Despite posts to the contrary here, not every Muslim supports the Taliban. Even in Pakistan the people seem to be turning against them. Hopefully Obama and Brown can reach out to the moderates. Doing that will sideline support for the hardcore and make the task for UK and US forces easier. No bad thing, if that happens.

Hopeful signs indeed.

And the other allied forces in the area, sorry for leaving them out.

Not to worry, when it comes to the war in Afghanistan, the Canadian Gvt can't seem to actually decide if we are in or not. If I am not mistaken, the latest stand is that we are in for the long haul, that we will stick it out no matter what and will not abandon our allies, and that all our troops will be withdrawn in 2011....see what I mean[:D]

Pakistanis avenge mosque blast, attack Taliban

ISLAMABAD -- Hundreds of Pakistanis banded together and attacked Taliban strongholds in a troubled northwestern region to avenge a deadly suicide bombing at a local mosque, a top government official said Sunday.

The incident Saturday underscored a swing in the national mood toward a more anti-Taliban stance - a shift that comes as suicide attacks have surged and the military wages an offensive against the Taliban in the Swat Valley.

I have been keeping tabs on these things, and I am glad someone else has posted on it.

I believe this is why we need to improve relations with countries that can handle these extremist, without tripping the "holy war" button so much.
