Make him brownies and do lots of cool decorations with drizzled chocolate and such. If you bake brownies on a jelly roll pan (standard sheet pan) lined with parchment paper, they'll be thin enough you can cut shapes with a cookie cutter. Watch your baking time. Ghiardelli is now making brownie mix that is TO DIE FOR, especially the one with chocolate syrup. I should recommend making them from scratch but with a few touches, a good box mix is really hard to beat. Add ons to customize brownie mix to sublime: a teaspoon of instant coffee or espresso replace half the water in the mix with: brewed coffee or espresso, grand marnier, chambord, creme de menthe, amaretto, kahlua, frangelico, etc chocolate chips (white or bittersweet) pecans or other nuts peppermint extract or swirl through: peanut butter melted white chocolate 1 package cream cheese beaten with 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla & 1/4 cup sugar (to make cheesecake brownies- you will need to use 2 packages of brownie mix for correct proportions) A "special" touch would be to use, instead of chocolate chips, rough chopped bar chocolate (my preference). Commercial chocolate chips have a light edible wax coating on them to make them retain their shape better, so you'll actually get better flavor ultimately from chopped chocolate, plus it'll meld better in the brownie. Ok. Someone stop me.
