i retract the statement of freedom being dumb, i shall replace it with "dying" for freedom is dumb...

Do you realize just how ludicrous this statement is when it's made by someone who has admitted to 32 suicide "attempts?"

I am astounded at your callousness stef, and believe me it took me a while to think of a word to describe your behaviour that would be acceptable in mixed company.

Your comment here and MisstressofGA's remarks about medicines show not only a complete and utter disregard for another human being's pain, but an utter lack of common decency as well.

You, Miss stef are simply despicable, and your avatar and signature are indeed appropriate.
I hope for your sake you never find yourself in the grips of clinical depression, and that if you do, you never meet somebody like yourself.

Not much evidence of that in this thread now is there [:)]

I have extensive experience with depression. While you are right that it is a horrid illness with oftentimes devastating effects, it does not account for some of the really stupid things that Michael comes out with. You can not blame depression on that, and that is why I have him blocked. Not because he suffers from that illness.

I find it ironic that you are defending Michael against my "utter disregard for another human being's pain, but an utter lack of common decency as well" and yet you are now insulting me. Doing to me the very thing that you are defending Michael for.

Hello, Pot. How are you?

Alas and alack, you wound me to my very core. How ever shall I push on?

Thank you, I chose them for a reason. By the by, do you say despicable like Daffy Duck? I think it's so much more dramatic that way. Try peering over the top of your glasses and narrowing your eyes a touch when you say it for maximum effect.

I hate to burst your incredibly sanctimonious bubble, but I have experienced clinical depression first hand and it took someone putting their boot to my posterior to help put things into perspective and galvanize me into action to actually do something about it. It's tough love, hippie.

I always knew Canadian/U.S relations were sometimes uneasy, but come on people, there is no need to start into the personal attacks.

I apologize for my hand in the escalation of things.

stef -> RE: Canadians are cool (2/14/2006 11:21:33 AM)

This has nothing to do with "Canadian/U.S relations."

Whether you are depressed, manic, whatever, one of the very first things a good doctor will tell you is that you have to take responsibility for your own actions. You can not use your illness as a scapegoat. Just because you are depressed or manic does not preclude you using your head before you speak.

michaelGA -> RE: Canadians are cool (2/14/2006 1:19:39 PM)

i often feel like using my head to test the stability of a brick wall...why else would i post some of my comments here...LMAO

Although I dont want to comment on the discussion going on, I do want to comment on the OP, for myself and, I think, for karboncopy.

That article is a little insulting from the point of view of a Canadian (at least this Canadian). It paints a very nice and liberal picture of Canada as a whole, but...if Im not mistaken, it seems a little like, um, leaving the bath-water in with the baby (as apposed to throwing the baby out with the bath water). Canada is not that great, at least not in all the varioius places that I have lived and visited. Im not going to list any of the things that are wrong, because thats not really the point.

It is a lovely article and I suppose it sets Canada up as a good basis for comparison, but its a little stereotypical, its just not the usual stereotypes this time.
