Another thing to keep in mind is that sometimes a generally open web host may turn into a Bible thumping, hate anything sexual kind of business overnight. I maintained sites for a number of bdsm organizations over the years, and one bookstore in the scene that had nothing but bad luck in this area used to be hosted on one server that turned religious almost overnight and DEMANDED she take down her site IMMEDIATELY. They wouldn't deal with me or her over the phone in a friendly manner and were outright hostile. This was a company that had been hosting the site for seven years without a single problem. Another site after that was fine with all types of content, and we had long conversations with them before we switched over to them. Then, out of nowhere, they got on this holier than thou attitude about how we were disgusting heathens who were destroying the world for good folk. Now, don't get me wrong because I might just be guilty of that, but it wasn't because of our bdsm bookstore site. Anyway, we had to literally find a new server overnight because they deleted all the content on the site at that moment without even a conversation. Thank god we had backups of everything, but they didn't care that they could have put a legitimate business out of business completely. So, make sure you have copies of everything you might want to keep, and constantly be aware that when a company changes hands, anything can happen.
