Gordon Brown is being shown around a new hospital in his home town of Paisley, near Glasgow. Flanked by hospital staff and patients and one of his aides, he decides to meet some of the patients. He walks over to an old man sat up in bed singing. 'Hello I'm Gordon Brown, your Prime Minister, and who might you be?' The old man continues singing 'Auld Lang Syne.' So Gordon Brown moves onto the next patient, sitting beside his bed, who when greeted starts saying in a loud voice,'Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face. Great chieftain o' the pudding race. Aboon them a yet tak your place. Painch, tripe or thairm...' Gordon Brown quickly moves onto the next patient and introduces himself. The patient replies, 'Oh aye my wife she dang me. An' aft my wife she bang me. If ye gie a woman a' her will. Gude faith, she'll soon o'er gang ye....' Gordon Brown moves on to the next patient, who starts off by saying, 'This truth fand honest Tam o' Shanter, As he frae Ayr ae night did canter: (Auld Ayr, wham ne'er a town surpasses, For honest men and bonie lasses).' So Gordon Brown walks over to his aide and the hospital staff and asks, 'Is this the psychiatric ward or what?' 'Och no,' replies a doctor, 'It's the Serious Burns Unit.'
