Gauge -> Black & White Films (2/10/2006 10:18:57 PM)

In another thread, it was brought up that the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still was the greatest sci-fi film ever. Now, I agree that it was a classic and up there in the top ten... But, if you were to make a list of the greatest black and white horror/sci-fi films what would they be?

I will start off by adding a few in to the mix. I am really interested to see where this thread takes us because I know that there are other fans like me that think some black and white films beat the daylights out of some color films. Perhaps I should add the color category as well, but you must list them seperately as b&w or color.

Best B&W Horror/Sci-fi

The Thing

Tarantula

Dracula with Bela Lugosi

The original Frankenstein

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Color Horror/Sci-fi:

Alien

Star Wars

The Andromeda Strain

OK... Now it is your turn...

i actually prefer the remakes of the old classics like:

The Thing

The Blob

Night Of The Living Dead

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

i also like movies like:

Jaws (the first one...the rest were a bit corny)

the Alien Saga

some of the Halloween movies (except Season Of The Witch, which was entirely off the mark and stupid, IMHO)

the list is endless (e.i. it's late and i can't think of any more ATM...LOL)

I have never heard of Fergus... who played in it? Was it black and white or color?[8D]

When I'm cold, I'm blue
when I'm embarrassed, I'm pink
when I'm sunburned, I'm red
when I'm sick, I'm green
when I die, I will turn grey.

I guess you could say color :P

Another wonderful film. Although I haven't seen it in many years, I still remember the noise those things made. Nice choice.

Didn't Spike Lee direct many Black and White films?
