The first serious tying I did was with submissive women who knew lots more than me so they showed me the, ahem, ropes.
Since then I have done lots of practice, bought books and attended workshops.
and ya know what...I still ain't that great with rope!

FR, after read thru

I've always had a thing for rope & string, for tying knots & untangling line . ....

I went thru a 'Houdini phase' when I was a kid & I'd tie myself up & get loose, lol . . .. . I've read thru Scouting & sailing manuals . . . . . & I've done a lot of needle work, which feels very similar to me . . .. . It's all handling lines & making beauty out of it . . . . .

Since I've gotten in touch with my inner kinkster I've taken a number of rope bondage classes & practiced tying body harnesses quite a bit, with & without fancy knots . . .. . . . . . . & a close friend of mine is really into rope in a big way & she passes along websites & teaches me stuff . . . . .

Started with a Midori workshop, then consumed a considerable amount of wheat and chaff on the net. Made the mistake of thinking you could learn safe(r) suspension thru trial and error. Finally, got off my butt and went to Japan for lessons with Arisue and Osada Steve. What a difference good tuition makes. There is so much you will never learn from books or experimentation. However, there are a lot of snake oil salesmen about...

PS I have learned that bondage is not about knots. I only use about 3, so Boy Scout manuals, climbing and sailing books are only so much use. Rope is merely the means of communication ;-)

Row 2— Ch 3, turn, hdc and sc in 1st hdc, sc in each st across with sc, hdc and dc in end ch-3. Row 3—Repeat Row 2. Row 4—Ch 3, turn, sc in each st across with sc and hdc in end ch-3. Row 5—Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across to end ch-3. Row 6—Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. Row 7—Ch 3, turn, sc in each sc across with sc and hdc in end sc. Repeat Row 5 once and Row 6 four times (thru Row 12).
