The French cant make beer to save their lives; what passes as French beer is actually beer brewed along the northern and eastern borders of France - originating from those areas that have changed hands with the Germans numerous times and those areas in the north which are heavily influenced by Belgian culture and where its cheaper for the Belgian and Luxembourger breweries to make beer than it is in their own countries, especially for Brits to export in their cars on day shopping trips.

WTF are you talking about, almost every single culture on the face of the earth has produced it's own fine variety of beer, it's not like it's a requirement to wear lederhosen and have blonde hair and the name "Yawns" to make a fine brew. The french have mastered cheese, wine, and a whole slew of other tasty delectables on their own, it's hard to imagine that they are unable to produce something as simple as bier. And while it is true that the beer brewers in france have greatly taken advantage of their borders to gleem information from other beer makers(like every other culture) they have produced a style of beer that is completely their own, I for one prefer the blonde and amber ales produced by france, they have a sweet yet nicely bitter flavor to them(not to mention bezlebuth packs a fucking punch from hell), and until I can find a place that carries a decent sahti around here, I will continue to prefer french beer.

Yeah, not much on pale beers from countries that don't fully understand heat and the refreshment factor of beer there after....

If it's French and it's good, it's because they hired a foreigner to run the brewery.
