Quite the contrary. Her personal conviction can very well be admired whether you agree with her "OPINION" or not.

So let's say her opinion was that, say, women, blacks, Jews, whatever should be denied health insurance or the right to vote.  Would you still admire her "personal conviction"?

There are folks around here that I think are completely in left field and utterly wrong on my of their positions, yet I still admire their willingness to stick to their beliefs and to state them openly and honestly.

Do you honestly believe that there wouldn't have been calls for her to be removed if she had answered the opposite way?  The only difference I believe is it wouldn't have been as hate filled.  Just my opinion.

Please. If she had said 'I'm a socialist' the demands she be removed would have roared forth from Fox. If she had answered the question either way with a lot less vitriol then she could have gone on to a happy year of opening malls etc.

You are suggesting that she is the one that was filled with vitriol?  Interesting.

Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman.

Now I will grant the point that she isn't the brightest candle on the cake, but I don't see any vitriol in her answer.

DomKen -> RE: Miss California fired (6/11/2009 4:38:43 PM)

So now you're pretending that's all she ever said on the matter.

I admire the fact that she has personal convictions and sticks to them regardless of whether anyone agreed with her or not. That is what personal convictions are. Exactly what her OPINION may be is besides the point and completely irrelevent! It is the fact that she stood up for what she believed in and took the heat. Put down your contempt for the opinion and look instead at the resolve she has.

So to answer you question: YES.

She reminds of another young person with great conviction...hmm, the name's just on the tip of my tongue..Oh Hitler!

I just chalk her up to being another very confused individual who substitutes fervor for intellect.

Well said sir.

I try hard to give a fuck, I swear [&:] .

MarsBonfire -> RE: Miss California fired (6/11/2009 6:38:03 PM)

And now the reason for her firing becomes clear... Thanks to her actions (talking down gay rights in venues other than the Miss CA pagent) the sponsors of that event began to pull out, or began to threaten to pull out... Trump was willing to stand behind her so long as there was a positive cash flow... but the moment she treatened the equity of his property (Miss USA, Inc.) he dropped her like rock.

So, yeah, she had every right to her opinon. And she spoke it. However, EVERYONE ELSE also has the freedom of speech to judge her on it, and take their money elsewhere if they didn't agree. (Yes, you can yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre... but you will be held accountable if it's a hoax or not.)

I'm betting she'll end up doing a spread in Penthouse, just to cover her looming legal expenses... and maybe a porn video or two too...

kittinSol -> RE: Miss California fired (6/11/2009 6:41:58 PM)

I see a saving grace there: the woman is truly very, very pretty.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Miss California fired (6/11/2009 6:49:23 PM)

Yeah, kittnsol, it's at least a win for those of us who want to see her naked and fucked. (I'm really hoping for a double penetration scene myself... it's probably too much to ask that she ends up in a German BDSM video, stretched tight and whipped until she bleeds.
THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!"

kittinSol -> RE: Miss California fired (6/11/2009 6:59:20 PM)

Depends for what [:D] . I'd rather not see Carrie Prejean (French name alert!) end up in porn though. She's too pretty for porn.

I see her doing a slot on Fix News. With Sarah Palin. Making vacuous comments about how they were both fucked over by the evil libewal media elite [8D] .

MarsBonfire -> RE: Miss California fired (6/11/2009 7:03:03 PM)

Well, yeah, that would be the downside... but I prefer to think positively. ;)

Well, don't wear your pretty self out, Kittin. When you decide you just have to take a break, let me know and I'll try for a day or two.

Somewhat, I suppose.

I really don't find either one of them particularly attractive, to be honest. I've never gotten this whole "beauty pageant babe" thing. OK, fine, they taught an inflatable doll how to walk and talk. Bravo. Excuse me while I switch back to the hockey game.

Panda, I think I love you!  LOL

Honestly, I don't see what the whole big deal is about her anyway.  Do you really think that anyone on the planet will even remember her name or who she is this time 4 months from now?

Just another glorified barbie doll made of silicon and plastic.

MarsBonfire will, as long as she does that German BDSM video [8D]

LOL, good point!  Hm...  wow, wouldn't it be just fun if one of those were to turn up on these here interweb thingies in the youtubes or something. ;)

And you know what the real shame of it is, BK? In my mind, anyway? Many, if not most, of these young women are probably very sweet, decent kids deep down inside, but the plasticization process by which they are transmogrified into successful beauty pageant contestants just destroys the genuine inner beauty that must have been there in the first place to have made them stand out to their groomers. By the time they're successfully transformed into human barbie dolls, there's nothing left of who they really are. Nothing visible, anyway. They're just an empty smile and an overstuffed bikini with a $500 hairdo perched on top. Poor kids.

Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that.

OK, I take back what I said. She does the videos, and I'll start a fan club. Everyone deserves a second chance, right?
