Now who didn't see that coming 4,000 miles away? She's been on the hit list ever since her famous or infamous marriage statement.

Yay.

When I'd heard that she'd been "stripped", I got my hopes up. But unfortunately, it was just of her title, because she didn't show up for work to fulfill the contract. Bummer. Strange how something so pretty on the outside can contain such a seething, nasty, rotted soul as hers.

I think Trump sold her down the river after he caught so much flack for not dismissing her over the photos. She has nothing to be ashamed of. She has principles she believes strongly in and isn't afraid to voice them regardless of the consequences. That automatically makes her a better role model than 99.9% of her pageant peers. It's refreshing to see someone who won't knuckle under and kiss everyone's ass.

Why do I find the use of these words to describe a human being simply
because she held an opposing view, seething, nasty, and rotten.

It is the most empty and ridiculous human habit to praise the staunchness of a person's belief without actually measuring the quality of it.

I would say: interesting case.  Elected and selected persons in US are not allowed to express their personal beliefs even if asked directly. Perhaps beauty queen candidates  should be screened in advance what their political and moral views are. It would protect the organization against future troubles.

According to her lawyer, she has attended all scheduled appearances including just last weekend in Vegas, and was planning on spending this weekend at the Special Olympics as a volunteer and presenter.

I do have to question the way in which she was notified, via the media asking her if it was true.  One would think that an employer would notify the employee first.

The truth will come out in the coming days, as I can see a lawsuit being filed sometime soon.

Actually her lawyer didn't quite say that she has "attended all scheduled appearances" and notably, he didn't actually say that she had fulfilled her contractual obligations, but rather that she had been in contact with officials:

quote:

Donald Trump announced a month ago that she could keep her Miss California crown despite numerous contract breaches, he gave his "blessing" for state pageant officials to strip her of her sash on Wednesday.

"Carrie has been in constant contact with pageant officials seeking to fulfill her obligations," Prejean's attorney Charles LiMandri told Tarts in a statement on Wednesday.

"I have emails in my possession tied to the pageant organization as recently as last Friday citing future appearance requests for Carrie. She represented the Pageant in Las Vegas the weekend before last, and is scheduled to appear at a Special Olympics event this weekend in California, a cause dear to her heart. Everyone has been pleased with her appearances and excited to see her."

She has no need to sue anybody. In USSR or China her life would be miserable (after public conflict with official ideology) but not in US (yet). The good news for her; she can use the circumstances as a jumping board for getting more fame and wealth.

If you were Miss CA, and had a scheduled appearance in VEGAS, would your really want to miss that one?

Not to mention, why would a Miss California be making an appearance in Nevada?  Don't pageant queens usually promote their own state?

Somehow, there has to be much more to the story than what's being made public.

Quite the contrary. Her personal conviction can very well be admired whether you agree with her "OPINION" or not. She should be credited for how she has handled the situation. She has never (to my knowledge) maligned or insulted or attacked anyone for their beliefs/opinions. She was asked a question that was "loaded", but she gave her answer directly and did not skirt the issue, she clearly stated it was her own personal belief, and she did not cave from the pressure of the court of public opinion.

The staunchness of her beliefs and the way she has handled the situation all speak to her personal discipline. Now if you disagree with her opinion, that is a different story, and that is where she is constantly personally attacked. And if you have to stoop so low as to personally attack someone's "rotted soul", then your own opinon can't count for very much afterall.

So let's say her opinion was that, say, women, blacks, Jews, whatever should be denied health insurance or the right to vote.  Would you still admire her "personal conviction"?

There are folks around here that I think are completely in left field and utterly wrong on my of their positions, yet I still admire their willingness to stick to their beliefs and to state them openly and honestly.

Do you honestly believe that there wouldn't have been calls for her to be removed if she had answered the opposite way?  The only difference I believe is it wouldn't have been as hate filled.  Just my opinion.

She would have been Miss America if she would have given the  "correct answer".

Please. If she had said 'I'm a socialist' the demands she be removed would have roared forth from Fox. If she had answered the question either way with a lot less vitriol then she could have gone on to a happy year of opening malls etc.

I admire the fact that she has personal convictions and sticks to them regardless of whether anyone agreed with her or not. That is what personal convictions are. Exactly what her OPINION may be is besides the point and completely irrelevent! It is the fact that she stood up for what she believed in and took the heat. Put down your contempt for the opinion and look instead at the resolve she has.

So to answer you question: YES.

"Opinion" is an empty word used to substantiate views that have no other positive structural foundation.

It is precisely the quality of the "view" that distinguishes intelligence from delusion.

And, do realize I didn't make any mention of "rotted soul" (which is a bit of an incoherent concept anyway).

I just chalk her up to being another very confused individual who substitutes fervor for intellect. I do, however, think she's perfectly free to choose that path for herself.

"Resolve" is the reason a security guard is dead as of yesterday in DC.

Anyone with a marginal understanding of human history knows damn well that resolve is empty without a motivational fire that merits respect.
