MasterSteve57 -> Sub/Masochist Link? (6/12/2009 9:33:04 AM)

In my experience somewhere around half of sub women seem to have definite masochistic tendencies.

Is there a link of some sort between being submissive and enjoying pain? Or are they two entirely seperate subjects? Do "vanilla" women have masochistic fantasies at the same rate? I'd guess that they don't but that's just a rank guess.

If anyone can shed some light on any possible psychological or emotional link, I'd be very interested.

I know a couple of masochists that aren't submissive in the slightest. They have no interest at all in D/s. They just like kinky pain play.

Or.... is there a link between submission and the expectation of masochism (and vice versa). I'm personally betting significant parts of both with some other things thrown in the stew for good measure.

Is this statistical? How large was the sample you have real world interacted with?

You seem to define masochism as the ability to enjoy pain. If so, there must be 2 kinds of masochists.

One kind are those who want to feel pain they can enjoy.

The other kind, like me, want to feel pain that a sadist can enjoy. For example, I cannot enjoy the pain I feel when my nuts are hit, but I cannot resist to hit my nuts myself if someone wants to enjoy the humiliation and the pain I will feel by doing so.

Whereas I feel I was born as a masochist, I am not submissive by nature. But again, I can enjoy it if someone likes it to use my masochism to have me suffer so much pain, that I become afraid for even harsher pain, and therefore become submissive to the person.

No

Why would you think that they don't?
Just because they don't broadcast them on websites, does not mean that they are incapable of the same things that we here are.

Exactly! There is the pleasure of seeing your other pleasured the pleasure of the dichotomy that is displayed by suffering for another’s pleasure.

There is in intensity and intimacy of such acts that I cherish and make them very enjoyable. It is one thing to claim dominance and power in a relationship and another thing to actual wield it.

For me the pleasure is not in the sting of a toy to my skin but from the intensity of the domination in the act and my other’s pleasure in doing it to me.

There are submissives who are sadists and dominants who are masochists. There is no definite correlation.

And then there are switches who are both, and sometimes I ... I mean WE can't make up our minds. [:D]

and just to really confuse the issue, the ability to control, divert, and ride with pain is something even otherwise vanilla people can learn to do. Most just don't have to do it unless they have a painful chronic condition or disability.

Well all, it is nearly midnight, Friday, June 19, 2009. I am feeling better than I have for a long, long time. And that is inspite of not having any prospective D/s Mistress, whom I can sight as the one who will collar me yet.
But I do sense that, I am following the right path, still.. :o) Even though, I have been committed to this quest since 1996. And I know that my prayers will soon be answered. Praise the Goddess, and the God. It has surely been a "long and winding road, which" I pray will "lead to your door", Ma'am, but without the spiritual, stamina, with which the Infinite, Creator, blesses me, I would still have no hope. I often think that I took the wrong road, when I saw the road split into two roads, back in 1968, but such actions, are common for the Creator. :o) Well, I shall now try to sleep. Good morning,
(it is now some minutes after midnite), and, thus I will close this entry by simply blessing each and every soul who reads this, as the True,  power, of the Spirit of God,
has I think,  perhaps helped me, with this line of thinking and posititive affermations,
in hopefully fullfilling this quest.

God bless, every fellow, seeker,
who reads this, section of my writings
