Harsh words. But, I think that I've lost the will to get back on the horse. At 44yrs. old the discouragement gets old.

And if I haven't found the person I am looking for in four years time when I am 44 then pop back and say hi.... 'cause I'll still be here and still be looking. See I know what I want, I know what I need and here is one of the places I'm likely to find that.

Not saying I won't have low points, everyone does. But you are sure enough about what you want, then you stick with it.

plzblisterme -> RE: Self pity? (2/11/2006 1:38:34 PM)

You know when I was 28 I had a seriuos car accident in which I had to learn to walk, talk, and use my arm again. The doctors told me that I would never walk again. You would never, ever, know I was in an accident today because I worked hard and told the doctors to go fuck themselves!!! As Andrew Dice Clay says "NO ONE TELLS ME WHAT TO DO, NOT EVEN ME!!!" However, when the odds are sooooooo stacked against you, it is really hard to keep "getting right back on that horse." I beat the shit outta the accident because I could see the enemy!!! I cannot see this one.......................

[:D]I can see your raise there and call your hand bud. Was supposed to be in a wheelchair within 4 years, I was also not supposedly able to cope without painkillers that would wreck my body and leave me addicted to them for the rest of my life.

I'm still standing, walking and havent taken anything stronger than over the counter meds for months....and this is close to 15 years later.

Doesn't change the fact that if you want it, you fight for it. If you give up, fine, you obviously decide it ain't worth the fight. As I said earlier, your choise.

age (too young, too old, just right (am I stuck in the freaking three bears story???) There comes a time, and maybe we all have faced it, where you say to yourself "maybe, just maybe, this is no longer worth the aggravation, and heartache, that this fetish causes."
Opinions, please?

Ok here are My comments--first of all you would meet or not meet the same criteria BDSM or vanilla--so that you need to deal with in finding a mate--BABAGOI

You used the word "fetish"---uhm IMHO A fetish is something like having a woman walk on your wanker in heels---( this one is going to get Me in so much trouble with My peers here)---that can come and go as you find partners--but as for a relationship--yep that takes time, work effort and patience--you win, you lose, but you keep trying

and btw, Ohio, Cleveland does have a huge scene---may not be your cup of tea but you won't know till you sip---

Mind passing some this way... this is enough to get me a warning from Mod 3 again.. and I really don't like being in trouble with Mods... that's ALMOST as bad as being introuble with Master... LOL

Based on your profile, you've only been here for a few months.
I've been here for longer, not much though, and get a tremendous amount of mail being a sub female.
I can say that I have my pick. And even with all of that it's only been within the last two weeks that I've connected with someone. It's hard. It's even harder online. But it's not impossible.
If what you are doing doesn't seem to work, then try something new.
Rewrite your profile...that costs nothing but your time.
Keep trying different things until something or someone clicks.
If you want it badly enough you will find a way.

subtoFemDommes -> RE: Self pity? (2/11/2006 1:48:28 PM)

Well, first of all, i'll fall into a camp which recognizes that you may have a dry sense of humor (careful! as an ex-NY'r who cultivated "Humor as Jujitsu" to survive, that can be considered more of an offensive weapon than a defensive one, among many who don't recognize it as such!) so i won't worry too much about you drowning in the "pity pool".

Now the bad news: You really don't have much choice about not following up your fetishistic desires. I'll provide a link to more extensive information (riddled with terms like "poor success" regarding treatment) but i'll bet that at age 44, you already realize that.

"Fetishism." Encyclopedia of Mental Disorders. Ed. Ellen Thackery. Gale, 2003. eNotes.com. 2006. 11 Feb, 2006

Like yourself, my connection to submission started at a very young age; it was the very first thing in my life to connect me to a sense of Eros and remains the most powerful. And like yourself, i found it very hard to realize. Hard, but not impossible. Rather than reiterate, here's a link to another post on the subject:

What Keeps You Submissive/Slave

As others here have pointed out, the road is not easy, but it's a hell of a lot more tolerable, and the possibilities of success infinity more viable, with the right attitude.

Use these forums and the supportive attitudes of (most [;)]) of the others here, to communicate, to learn, to grow and to become real. Speaking from very personal experience, i can assure you that there is, indeed, a wonderful Woman out there who would be more than happy to exercise the prerogative your profile indicates you desire, and be as real to you in the sense of caring, love and friendship as you can be to Her.

There is not much of a local scene here.

Sure about that?

I quickly googled "Cleveland Ohio BDSM munch" and came up with a couple pages of links. SMART, Ohio Leatherfest, etc.

I agree. I have three friends in the scene who live right in Cleveland.

quote:

"Local" is relative - I generally have to drive about 75 miles one way to a munch because I live in a rural area of Maryland.

When I lived in Hattiesburg, MS, I used to drive monthly to a PEP meeting near Nashville, TN. That was the closest kink organization at the time. Oh, and I did find a play partner there. We used to exchange visits and meet occasionally midway.

"Close" is often an indication of how interesting someone is

You just need a good ass beating and you'll be fine. ;) Quit making excuses and get your ass out there and do something about it. Ohio has huge BDSM venues. There a scores and scores of people there. If you have to drive to get to an event, drive.. or bum a ride or buy a bus ticket. Meet the leaders of the different groups. Get to know them by being yourself. Offer to be the flogging dummy for demo's. Be charming, be clean and keep a twinkle in your eye. USE your natural gifts. Humor is a big turn on for a lot of people, so go with it. You're really cute, and with the proper attitude you'll find a Domme who would like nothing better than to turn you over her knee. Ok, so maybe you won't find her for months or years, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself in the meantime! It's all about people and connecting with them. The more people you meet, the bigger your network. The bigger your network, the greater your chances of finding that special someone.

Don't worry so much about getting back on the horse.. after all, you just want to bend over it for a bit. Hell, as soon as you say "I can't", then.. YOU WON'T!

Don't expect miracles either.. because they don't generally come to you when you expect them to. Go with the flow and it'll happen when it happens.

Adjust your attitude, tweak your profile so there's not so much .. my ass, my ass, my ass in it. You want to treat a woman like a queen.. well, tell her what that means! How do you treat your Queen? What will you do for her?

Plz, mediocre is as much a part of the bell curve as excellence. Make an effort to get out of the middle and shine! Dommes like shiney things. :)

Celeste

Can you explain to me your reasoning?

She means that you are not making yourself sound either attractive or interesting.

Dominant women of my acquaintance are looking for.

Strength. This doesn't mean bulging muscles. It means that the male is strong enough so that they can feel proud at receiving his submission. As one of my friends put it "I don't want him on his knees; I want to put him on his knees.

Attractiveness. Again, we aren't talking model here. It means that when they are out with the submissive he looks good and acts with dignity and composure. One of the biggest turn offs is lack of ordinary grooming and hygiene.

Centering. This means you are submitting to them, a specific woman, not anyone who happens to satisfy their needs. Again a quote "I'm a woman not a life support system for a whip."
