Yeah, most of the time I'd agree..

I guess I'm just craving civilization right now

WyldHrt -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/12/2009 8:51:24 PM)

Umm, Pyro? You are a little over 100 miles from Los Angeles. If you have transportation, it's a little over 2 hours.... which is maybe 30 minutes more than it takes me to get there from the Sticksville I live in, lol.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/12/2009 8:52:53 PM)

The country has more flowers to pick petals.

Will he email me, will he email not...?

I'm actually doing a trip that way later this month, but yeah, still not exactly down the street lol.

I just hope my little pos car will make it

Though I dearly miss New Orleans, I do love where we are now----20 minutes to the farm where we keep the horses, 20 minutes to the heart of the city--3 hours to the beach,   3 hours to the mountains---love love love it oh yeah about about 6 to Atlanta![:)]

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.  I live in the Quachita Mountains in Arkansas.  When I was a kid, we actually got a week off from school for deer season! [:D].  Most of the counties in this state are dry; I'm lucky enough to live in a wet one.  So I don't have to drive an hour to buy a six-pack like some of my pals.  I'm an hour away from Little Rock, and you know it's such a party town [:D].  I'm 4 hours away from Memphis, 4 hours away from Shreveport, and 5 hours away from Dallas.  So those are my choices if I feel like a weekend excursion.  So don't talk to me about the sticks when you live 2 hours away from the 2nd largest city in the United States.

Gads I just moved out of NYC to a small town in FL.  Its bliss.
I guess Im the opposite, give me small town or the sticks and Im a happy camper.

pixidustpet -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/13/2009 6:44:16 AM)

YES! I don't live really rural although I have in the past, but I do live in the suburbs and I'm really extremely sick of it. I'm more of a city gal and I can't wait till I can move soon!

LaTigresse -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/13/2009 7:15:29 AM)

Oh god no! I treasure every single second I get to spend in my rural heaven. I hate leaving it. I cannot tell you how many times I've planned to attend an art show or festival on a weekend then ended up canceling my plans when the time came to get ready to leave the farm.

oh Lord...we were separated at birth! I too have canceled plans because i prefer the quiet, the cleanliness, and the peace of the farm to a gathering of any sort. Even something as simple as going out to dinner is no competition for a quiet evening at home.

*Longs to get back to the woods, the river, and the star filled, night skys.*

Thank God I'm a country girl!

Yup. Generic Dude and I carpool to work most days. I cannot tell you how many times he has offered to buy me dinner before going home, I declined and said "Let's just go home and cook something instead."

GreedyTop -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/13/2009 3:05:45 PM)

I used to live just outside Nashville.  ABout 5 minutes past the county line.  It was a world apart.  Once you crossed the county line you went from urban to rural.  I loved it.. got the best from both worlds.

My friends shoulda shot my ass before I left TN to move back to CA... srsly.

LaTigresse -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/13/2009 3:21:27 PM)

I considered a move to Nashville earlier this year but they couldn't cough up enough money for me to have the property/farm it would have taken to get me there. Now I am glad, the company that made the offer has gotten rid of half their employees since then. It is beautiful there, in the area I was looking.

GreedyTop -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/13/2009 3:24:23 PM)

LaT.. I lived in the Lebanon area (Mt. Julliet to be exact)/..

I highly recommend the area.. not MJ so much (it's been taken over by corporations...).. but Lebanon, Hickory... most anything else in Wilson county...

Lakes, hills.. close to the city without BEING part of the city...

ShaharThorne -> RE: Damn...I need to move out of the sticks (6/13/2009 3:31:33 PM)

My SIL just discovered feral pig tracks outside the trailer. I am debating whether to tell my neighbor since he raises a special breed of goats (can't remember which breed).

Got to excuse me, heat index is 102 degrees in NE Texas!
