i believe freedom comes from security. If you have security you can be free in any relationship, whatever side of the kneel you happen to be on.

Brilliant answer. I couldn't agree more[:)]

I have enjoyed reading all the replies.
We have many great thinkers that post on Collarme.

Personally, I would not want a slave that did not feel there was "freedom" in submission.

The freedom,I think, lies in self-actualization... of one's ability to be as they truly are.

Masters, has it been your experience that there is freedom in slavery?

Why would I find freedom in slavery?
Having a slave, or knowing that there are slaves in the world does not make or give me freedom in anything, not even in ownership.

This just goes to show the quote that: "Slavery is freedom and Freedom is slavery"....

Yes to a point there is. Especialy if you find your self with a smart and thoughtful Master. Who of course will have different tasks and training for you to go thru. Once you trust your Master then you can relax and put your self in his hands.

Letting go and having fun with out making decisions on your own is a freedom of mind....relax and enjoy and the only thing you need to recall is the safe words.

Real slaves of a couple of centurys ago after being released found them selves uneasy and not liking having to decide on lifes issues by them selves. Even going so far as going back to their Masters for a life free of making choices and knowing their base needs would be met!

Those of us that claim to be free....are we truly Free??

Absolutely. i feel the freedom to concern myself with one thing - pleasing my Master. i feel the deliciousness of being owned, cared for, trained, possessed. i may never ever understand why i feel these things. And this too is something i've given up. All i know is that at His feet, serving Him, pleasing Him, seeking to know Him better in order to be even more pleasing, is my idea of heaven.

I have always loved that expression, there is freedom in slavery.
It just speaks to my heart on many levels.

As a submissive, i have never felt more free than i am now.  i am free to be me and know it's okay.  This is where i've always wanted to be, only i didn't always know it.  Now i do, and it's incredibly freeing. [:D]

I agree with catize.
I have yet to hear anyone bring the words to that song to life, as Janis did.
When Janis sings, "Freedom is just another word, for nothing left to lose", you feel it.
I would love to have hear Janis sing. "There is freedom in submission/and freedom is just another word, for
nothing left to lose!"
[;)]...deep sigh....

Slaves, do you feel freedom in being a slave?

This slave understands the 'depth of the concept' that is within the question asked; however, zaphira prefers to answer honestly without 'searching deep within'.

This slave is property. She belongs to another. There is no freedom in being owned by another; nor would zaphira wish for any. zaphira became property so that she could give up her freedom; not so she could 'discover' it.

(Of course, this is only how zaphira see's it; others will of course, not agree )

I'm reminded of a quote perhaps by George Orwell's " Nineteen Eighty-Four"  or  "Animal Farm" been way too long since I read either but the quote is something like: "Freedom is slavery and slavery is freedom" A slave is free to think and pursue their daily lot without the worry of providing food, clothing and shelter which in turns makes those who claim to be free slaves to the system.. Perhaps someone who is more familiar with Orwell may be able to correct this..

1984. It was party propaganda. War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength. It's kind of out of context here.
