I bought a good glass cup from a carboot sale the otherday...have been interested in this fire-cupping thing for a while now ...the glass is good, used to hold a candle, fits comfortable in my hand has a nice thick rim.
So i sat at home with it, cleaned it and thought well...lets try it out then...as i like to do things without any pressure on myself in my own time though i kept Him (more busy with His computer things) informed of my procedings... So i put some baby oil on my leg and started tinking on how to do the fire bit...as i have seen demonstrated (on you-tube) with plyers and cotton balls on fire...alcohol...what a hassle i thought and i went to get the gas lighter for the cooker...one of those with a long stick that produces a flame when you click it...
It worked a treat...warmed the glass lovely and sucked the oxigen totally out of it so it sucked itself very tightly to my well oiled upper leg. The sensation of moving it about was perfect the suction held good, i could have left it on my leg for ages, walked about with it even.
So why does anybody bother with the hassle of fluid and cottonballs on plyers i wonder...is that just for effect? sort of hokus pokus?
I was very much reminded of sucking a drinking glass around my mouth when i was a kid...its just the same thing really...am i too much of a practical house wife?
Also if anybody knows, what is the benefit of this besides it being a nice sensation? Does it alleviate muscle pain or reduce celulite or anything?

Well the alcohol is a help because it makes the air inside the cup hot without making the glass too hot. A lighter inside the cup for a prolonged period of time can make the rim rather hot and hurt when it goes on. So the alcohol makes this a lot quicker and more efficient.

It does help when you're tense. I've requested it many a time after a long day at work.

Ranja,

Firecupping is something I am just now learning to play with. Part of me enjoys the elaborateness of it, the ritual involved in doing all the various steps. If you want efficient, get one with a vacuum pump, even simpler but to me it strips away a huge part of what makes it romantic and sensual. Its like the difference between a candle lit dinner and just and overhead light, the lights get it done with less fuss and more efficiency but just aren't the same.

One isn't better or worse than the other, it is just that we all enjoy different things.

Thanks...i found the glass being warm from the lighter nicer on my skin than when i sucked the glass on almost cold, it would never get too hot as i hold the glass in my hand before i suck it on the skin so i feel the temperature of it on my hand. Also i rather like just one or two glasses (i will look for another one just like the one i've got) and to keep moving them sort of massaging the body as supposed to putting lots on and leaving them to mark the skin, the latter does not appeal to me much.
The lighter flame on high took all the oxigen out of the little cup very quick really i do not see any need for cotton balls and stuff...i think my method is still rather romantic...we have dimmers on our electric lights too....
still i light a candle on occasion...
