The internet is merely a tool of "The Boss", RE "The Company".
Statistically, according to clinical definitions of sociopathic behaviour, more bosses are sociopathic than ever before (since sociopathy has been actively rewarded and encouraged in the exec world since the mid-80's) and thus so is the "tandem personae" of corporations that people work for.
IT is just the tool of these nutless wackjobs masquerading as "Type A"'s
They ARE type a's, a for asshole. But they were assholes with faxes, and typed memos, and mimeographs. Like stalkers whom used landlines and payphones, they merely have new ways to add to the stress, but the tools are not to blame. The scissors that took Bobbit's Wee Widdle Winkee Bobbit were not to blame, the brain weilding them were.
In some ways IT is lessening stress because these moronic wannabe type a's are too narcissistic to realize they're too dumb to avoid leaving digital "paper trails" of their bullshit. Particularly in politics.
And frankly, I bet that Twitter, as much as I despise its intended/original demographic, relieved a lot of stress for the folks with family in the seats of the Plane that landed in the Hudson.
