LadyEllen -> 2 UK TV ads...... (6/15/2009 2:59:03 PM)
Number 1; the Autoglass advert (this chip will become a crack unless we inject our special gel etc). The friendly Autoglass man in his van has a Brummie accent - unusual as its not generally regarded as media friendly.
Is the advert broadcast elsewhere in the UK? does the friendly Autoglass man have a Brummie accent everywhere or do they make him local?
Number 2; Magners "Pear Cider". What the bleedin' 'eck is pear cider when 'ers at 'ome? Iz called perry here in Worcestershire, which is dead famous for it!
anyone else see enough of a problem with "pear cider" to join me in a frontal assault on Magner's headquarters?

Yes he still has the Brummie accent in the ads way down south. I didn't think about it because I am so used to the accent (my Sky card is still registered at a Brummie address so that I can keep up with the local news there).
The ad that gets me is the Laser Eye Surgery one. The one that says "Get our BEST laser eye surgery" Why the heck would you want anything but their best?

I rarely see pear cider here in the U.S., but when I do that's what they call it simply because it is so rare that otherwise people wouldn't know what it is. Sweet, not hard. We don't have hard ciders as far as I've seeen.

when I was a kid, we used to get ciderax and pearax every time we went on holiday, but could never find it anywhere else. Pear "cider" would be nice but then Im a fan of real cider tooo. Lucy
