Turn off caps lock. You must master the keyboard before you can master another.

No, that's not a joke. There's more, but that's a great start.

Beyond the caps lock, I would recommend finding yourself a male, dominant mentor that is local to you. This person would act as your guide and help you learn along the way. I also recommend attending munches, going to elctures and workshops and volunteering for your local group. You'll learn a great deal by watching how others approach what we do.

Stop SHOUTING!

Start by writing a thoughtful profile. Use sentences this time.

Learn that women aren't going to fall at your feet because you say.

Understand that you have a long way to go yet. No, I'm not being sarcastic or mean.

Patience.

What they said, start local and slow don't rush and understand that you know nothing at this point and don't be afraid to admit it.

Mike

First indentify who u are, what u are, and what direction u wish to take urself in, then defind what kind of Dom u wish to be, research and study ur craft, and find a Dom mentor but if that Dom say that he dont study or continue to learn in this lifestyle run away from him or he will lead u down a path that will get u in jail, but be true to ur self this is not a play toy messing with this Lifestyle, and this subs or slave are real people, SSC

My advice would be to learn how to present yourself in a manner that can be seen by others as being worthy of respect, or at least as being worthy of a literate adult.  All we have to impress people with our "appearance" online is language and self-expression.  Failing to use it well is the equivalent of showing up on a date in unclean, ragged clothes with one's teeth and hair unbrushed.  It impresses no one.

And you know, among the advice I give subs is to shy away from the ones who call themselves master.

hello i am mary yeboawaa and i am female looking for a serious master to serve all my life

newone11 -> RE: NEW TO THE LIFESTYLE (6/24/2009 9:43:48 PM)

Your profile tells me nothing about who you are or what kind of person you're seeking.  What I saw was an interesting journal (if you're into medical play) entry but that's it.  Who are you?  What do you have to offer?  What kind of relationship are seeking?  What are your interests, kinky and vanilla?

There is an incessant series of profiles of "couples" from various places in South Africa, frequently they can't spell the name of the town they live in (like "Johanesborg" for "Johannesburg"). They're usually a couple, sometimes dominant, sometimes submissive, sometimes licorice allsorts, when you mail them and point out they're not a single submissive woman but a male/female couple they'll mail you back and say that was a typing mistake, and they are looking for a loving God fearing husband, and.... but I am sure you get it. They're fakes, I tracked one back to an internet cafe in Johannesburg, her accent, on a South African cellphone, was not South African, black or white, and when I told her she could pick up her ticket from a ladyfriend of mine in Jo'burg she threw a complete fit ( I happen to have a close friend who lives and works near Jo'burg). IOW - these are fakes - the reason why a "lady" posts under a couple profile is that there are "computer savvy" people who get paid for setting up profiles for others, who have even less English, and they work from a cheatsheet that only has instructions to set up a couple profile. If you do a search on couple profiles in South Africa you'll find quite a few of these.

Umm... Lord? Sir? [8D]

Malkinius -> RE: NEW TO THE LIFESTYLE (6/25/2009 1:27:26 AM)

Greetings....

Include anyone who refers to themselves with a title in their nick. If they have to tell you want they are, they aren't. If they refer to others as Masters, Sirs, Lords, etc, they aren't.

Yes, there are exceptions. Some start out bad and get a clue. They are the exception, not the rule.

Be well....

Malkinius
