If there is a particular piece of equipment or anything really dear to you, don't take it with you on a plane. Lost or stolen baggage happens all the time and a good deal of it is not recovered.

Ms. Mlicious and I had our luggage inspected once.  When they saw the thigh high boots and a flogger, they just put it back and waved us through.  They did not want to know what else was in there.
