I posted this last year and thought it warranted a second round...

I once read a post that concluded the reason why many are so sad/depressed on Valentine's Day is because it is the day we take stock of "...the rubble of failed relationships in our lives".

So for those of you who do this, here is my Public Service Announcement to you... STOP THINKING THIS WAY -- THEY WERE NOT FAILED RELATIONSHIPS!!! These alleged "failed" relationships are actually LESSONS -- lessons that teach us what we want and don't want, like or don't like, who is right and who is wrong for us, and who is right or wrong for them.

Thus, if you are not "with" someone this Valentine's Day, it is because you have LEARNED what you want and are now SMART ENOUGH NOT TO SETTLE... Got it?!!

Now get off your ass and go TREAT yourself for being exponentially smarter than some your "friends" who ARE "with" someone this Valentine's Day -- but will be calling you a month or two from now and proclaiming, "How could I have been so stupid?"

*Note: As to the "treat", I suggest Ice Cream -- and I don't mean that fat-free, low-calorie crap... Ben & Jerry's, baby... Ben & Jerrys!!!

Look, I personally believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason and also that if you're truly open to it, the right one WILL come into your life -- but you need to both ASK for it to happen and put whatever fears/insecurities behind you. Go ahead... Put it out there... I PROMISE you, love WILL find you.

{{{{{ HUGS }}}}} to all of you who need one today, but seriously... be proud you're not foolish enough to have settled for just anyone -- you DESERVE better than that.

[End of Public Service Announcement]

I would have to agree with you as life is full of lessons no matter how crappy some are and you just need to suck it up and drive on. BTW Ben and Jerry's is the bomb regardless of depression or not.

Yep, I'm one of those folks who wasn't alone last Valentines day, but will be this one. Does it suck... yep, but it is also an opportunity. As you say, past relationships all have things you can learn. One of mine was to stop compromising on what I want and need. Next time I am not compromising, it may take a little longer but it will be the kind of relationship I know I need and I know I'm best suited for giving what the other person needs in.

I'll take a pass on the Ben and Jerrys, I plan to drop a quick valentine message to the rather special young lady that has caught my attention and put my feet up with a beer whilst watching the winter olympics

If you spend the night with Ben and Jerry, does that make you poly?

Be well,
Julie

la90066, you DO have a way with words at times---

This Valentine's Day, I rejoice--I am lonely--missing him so very much-- but no longer alone---though My beloved boy is miles away, we are a W/we having at long last found each other. Each movement, each plan, each action is taken toward the day when he is with Me for good. Tomorrow means that outcome is one day closer--

and a sweet cheek kiss to two of My favorite Doms---

Dips His lid, nice opening comments La90066.

Respectfully you have said it all for those of us that resonate with your words,,,,,,,

but BEN & JERRY's?? what are we missing in Australia? Do we need a Ben & Jerry's thread? Is it true there are 69 flavours?with the slogan, " The more that two eat, the more ecstasy, the more you become one!" ?. (Anyone with a better slogan for 69 flavours?)

Do they come with M & M's? Those little flavoured jelly beans? Sprinkles, Flake Chips, mini oreos? I'm getting excited.... I need to pig out on icecream now and be alone. Bye....

A happy day to all.

Alone or not, I've never felt depressed on Valentine's Day.

My father just passed away about a month ago, so I'm sending a dozen lavender roses to my mother for valentine's day. This gives me the same kind of joy I would have as if I recieved them my self.

So, to those of you alone or not, Happy valentine's Day to all!!!

Dateless you maybe Fergus, but with your sense of humour I very much doubt you'll ever be a looser

Enjoy your films (I have a back to back showing of all the editors cut Lord of the rings planned for once I move. That'll be a good weekend with friends that)

The only sadness this valentines day is that though Dragon and I have finally found our kitten... she will not be able to be here for valentines day (her work schedule will not permit it.)... But we sent her a kinky valentine anyway...

Alone on VD? Dedicate the day to finishing your taxes. If you have a refund coming, you'll be glad.
