I feel a little silly asking this, but I'm actually having a heck of a time locating a specific type of skirt I've been requested to wear.

The specifics are about mid-thigh, red plaid, pleated, and not "frilly"... the trouble I'm having is most of what I'm finding is way too short, out of stock, or way too small (I'm a solid US size 6... most of what I've seen runs in the negative numbers! lol)

Does anyone know of an online retailer that might carry something like this?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe some kind of stripperwear store? Or an actual school uniform supplier. (Might have to shorten the uniform yourself.)

Thanks... I'm thinking your suggestion of an actual uniform might really work.  Hadn't thought of that!!

Check out www.trashy.com

If you can't find something suitable online, i know from experience with an ex that they do custom work (the skirt the ex ordered was probably shorter than you want, but damn was it nice) - though i'm not sure if they'll take measurements over the phone or email, you'll have to call and ask.

They're fairly expensive, but they do excellent work - very high quality.

If you're in the L.A. area, the actual store is on La Brea in Hollywood.

Good Luck![:)]

You might want to try your local thrift stores. It is surprising the things you can find. Once i saw a whole rack of school uniforms at a Salvation Army store while traveling through PA. They were new, with labels still on, probably donated from a manufacturer or distributor. Several of the stores near me have large clothing departments.

you can usually find something like that at Hot Topic

I did a search on eBay using the key words: red plaid skirt 6 and got quite a few hits.  Depending on your requirements, you might have luck there.

A school uniform or something would be your best bet...you can always hem the skit to where you want it to fall. All the fetishwear stores I've seen with plaind skits make them extremely short.

It is shown in blue plaid but they have several that are red. You'd have to hem it but that's no big deal. You could even make a girl's cross tie out of the leftover fabric like this

BalletBob -> RE: Plaid mini (7/29/2009 8:13:50 PM)

MissAnimus, now they are cute. Thank you for posting the link to Landsend. I seen a pair of Blue Mary Janes in a store and had to get them (for my birthday in Sep.), and it turned out to be a School Uniform store. They had some nice skirts like that too, but not to fit my Big Butt.  HA HA HA

Plus I can just picture me asking where they Dressing Rooms are. LMCLAO

Waiting for my Mary Janes, sub BalletBob

Seconding that Hot Topic suggestion: saw a skirt exactly like that in Hot Topic less than a week ago.

Try looking up kilts for women. An example is

You are describing a woman's kilt to a "t".

gentlesoullady77 -> RE: Plaid mini (8/14/2009 4:40:56 AM)

you are in the rigth direction.talk to you soon

KCalli -> RE: Plaid mini (8/14/2009 5:47:19 AM)

If all else fails, find someone who sews. They are fairly easy to make, and you can find the exact material that you want. Custom made for you. (speaking from experience, have been sewing for a gazillion years, because I don't fit the "clothing size" norm, hence making my own, looks much more polished.)
