Thank you, Arpig. I will!

And happy Fathers day to you, if you've been so blessed, and to every other father out there too.

Happy Father's Day to all of those out there who deserve the title, rather than that of sperm donor.  (Sorry, couldn't help Myself.)

To My Dear Mister Pact, who was already a father in his own right, yet was willing to take that place to another two who needed a "Dad" Happy Father's Day, Love.

To clip, who is across the globe, serving not just his own, but also many of those who will be saying this today, Happy Father's Day.

Both of you are loved, respected, and irreplaceable in My life.

That's great that you couldn't resist the temptation to be derogatory in a nice thread saluting fathers on THEIR day.  You know, I never hear comments on Mother's Day like, "Happy Mother's Day to all those that deserve the title, rather than the the two bit whore, sperm recepticles that shat out a kid and dumped it with their parents."

Didn't that sound classy?  When you can't say something nice, than maybe you shouldn't say anything at all.  Food for thought.

Not to rain on your parade there, cupcake, but in My view, there is an honest difference between those who chose the role for a lifetime, rather than those who indulged in the commitment of fertilizing an egg.  The ability to impregnate a female isn't special.  Almost half of the people on the planet can do it.  Fertility has never proven anyone a man.  Actual parenting does.  Those are the males that should stand proud.

Oh, and you absolutely do hear the same type of comments on Mother's Day, because it takes more than giving birth to be a Mother.  Ask anyone who has stayed up all night with one in bed with a fever or a hundred other things that I could mention.

A little touchy on the subject there, aren't you dear?  What's wrong?  Did I hit a sore spot?

What does any of this have to do with the comment you made?  The ability to get pregnant isn't "special" either.  Most female vertebrates are capable of it.  Someone on here chose to post a thread a salutory thread towards fathers on Father's Day, which is a nice gesture.  You couldn't resist beginning your post with a comment on dead-beat dads.  Did he touch a nerve with you?

No you do not hear comments like that on Mother's Day by and large.  Again, your sentimental comments about your experiences with motherhood have nothing to do with your original derogatory, uncalled for comment.

I do get a little sick of the seemingly acceptable practice of devaluing fatherhood and men in general by modern Western society.  It's widespread.  No, you didn't hit a sore spot with me.  My father was around my whole life.  I have no children by choice.  Again, you're trying to change the subject.  You made an uncalled for comment that was completely irrelevant.

Thanks Arpig!!!

Happy Fathers Day to all the other Dad's out there!

I actually got to sleep in this morning (till 10 am) and had coffee waiting to be served the moment I got up. Everyone in my home is healthy, has clothes on their back, food in their tummys, and a roof over their head, so all of that is the best present for me on this day.

And in agreeing with said post, I merely mentioned that those who stepped up to the plate deserved it.  Not everybody does.  If they did, we wouldn't have to have child support laws now, would we?

Actually, you do, even if it comes from those who say that they've stepped up to take the role.  Much the same as I'd commend any male who stepped up to be a father figure in someone's life should they need one.

If it's so widespread there, sweetcheeks, you've got a bone to pick with society, not with Me.  The comment was entirely called for, as many fathers do fulfill their obligations to their offspring, and they should know that they are much more admirable than those who don't.  I prefer to recognize those who fit the former.

Now, be a good boy and go call your Dad.

There's no way you're a Cubs fan, dear.  If you are, we'll have to arrange for a visit to you from the Philly Phanatic!  Either that, or we'll send you someone dressed up in a Pirate costume.

Its pa's attempt at diversion dear...smiles

Happy Father's Day Dad, gone 43 years, when I was 13--yet left a legacy that lives within Me and My UM still today, at long last you and Mom are together---watching us and all those who need your strength and guidance.

I got the best of you Dad, standing firm on ethics, wrestling with decisions not favorable to others but right for the family---she has those too Dad--and I know you are proud.

I do favor the Chicago teams-- the post was an attempt to diffuse.

My dad passed over 20 years ago.     I had the best dad.   You name it- he did his best so us kids had the experience.
Most of all- I miss our heated debates...and they were rather obtuse.
...he worked himself to death -age 42.  as did HIS father.    So naturally us boys wondered if we had the same fate.

...we must learn from our elders.  It is the glue of a society.      The wisdom and integrity passed down.    There is no other way.    It can be a role model - a neighbor- ...more then one.  But passing down thru the generations has been lost of late.

I wonder why Michele Obama sent me a fathers day email.  I dont have any kids. I KNOW for sure of that.   Maybe I got mixed up on email lists.   hmmm

Per haps I shall pay her a call, at first light hitch up the team- and offer my cordial good tidings in return!   HMMmmm.   Yes!    I shall head out at first light.

My father was a hard ass, cantankerous, obstinate, and sometimes scary little man.  He was never afraid to put his foot against my rump if he thought I wasn't toeing the line.  Today, every time I overcome something, I thank him for each and every push that made me who I am.  I also remember the gentleness that was in those iron hands of his when I got hurt and the love behind every word of advice.
You are all wrong when you say that it takes a man to be a dad.  It takes a great man to be a dad.

Thanks Arpig.

Lost my father March 3rd.

First Father's Day without him.

A little sobering.

But I'm a Dad to the greatest kid on this glorious little globe of ours.

A whole lot fulfilling.

The temper of this thread tends to remind me why I come here less and less.

Thanks again Arpig, it's nice to be noticed.
