All that Bush rage isn't just going to  just evaporate, and so with Bush out of the picture all of that anger that the left has worked itself up into through the long eight year campaign of hate has to be directed somewhere.

No, you didn't get it then. What I'm saying - not implying, but explicitly stating - is that even as much of a total loon as Perez Hilton is, it would be an insult to compare him to an even loonier flake like Palin. It doesn't have anything to do with how anyone "rates", or how important her job may be, and it doesn't even have to do with which one's a genius and which one's a fool. It's purely a question of which one is crazier than the other. When it comes to mental and emotional stability, Sarah Palin makes Perez Hilton look like Dr. Phil.

So you are saying that Palin can now blame Bush, as an excuse for all the people making fun of her, instead of taking personal responsibility?

I'm saying that these endless hateful personal attacks against the woman have a foundation, a precedent. They are a part of a continuing pattern...

The difference between the lefts attacks against Bush and Palin, etc, and the criticism that the right hands to liberals generally and Obama specifically is that GENERALLY criticism by the right is of things that have been done and of policies, while criticism by the left tends to be hateful personal criticism. Not criticism of policies or actions, just hateful slime and, well, someone described it as being like school girl behavior, which seems really fitting.

Well, its progress. Twelve months ago I'll wager she'd no idea what ""frivolous" or "ethics" meant, and now she's using both words in a cogent way.

I wonder if she can spell them though.........?

E

she still doesn't, E... someone ELSE wrote her speech.

there you go! more liberal left wing pinko commie insults in place of proper judgement of her brilliant credentials for office!

she read the speech didnt she? presumably this explains why some look up to her as leadership material........

E
You don't seriously think that Obama or Biden or Kennedy write their own speeches, do you?

Tunnel vision must be a wonderful thing.  You narrowly focus on what you want to believe and ignore all else.

Tell me, was the endless Republican vendetta against Bill Clinton focused on his policies and actions in office or was it just an never-ending stream of innuendo based on his business and private life?

And as long as we're talking about that, can we forget the Republicans targeting a teenage girl going through an awkward stage for being ugly?  You might remember that McCain took part in those fun times.

I would say when/if the Palin children began to step into the light to campaign for thier mother they are valid targets.

That's precisely why she *is* a valid target. She has been on numerous talk shows by herself talking about her "relationship" as well as championing the abstinence cause which places her squarely in the 'do as I say, not as I do' camp. That makes her a WONDERFUL object of jokes and insults and ridicule.

Her...NOT her daughters.  As someone else noted, I also didn't think it was right for those on the right who poked fun at Chelsea, nor those on the right who poked fun at Amy Carter or those on the left who loved to find out every single thing the Bush twins were up to.  Go after the candidate all you want...hell, go after their partner if their partner speaks up and addresses issues...but leave the kids alone.

Actually, a lot of the vendetta against Clinton was against his actions while in office.  As for his personal life...hmmmmmm, I would say that attacking Palin's daughter for doing what a lot of teenagers do, including those of parents who provide access to birth control, is attacking something occurring within the governor's private family life no matter what her public/private stance is on abstinence.  And let's be honest here, folks...teenagers failing to practice what their folks preach is something we all face as parents.  I promoted birth control with my daughters and my idea of birth control wasn't abstinence...it was condoms or the pill.  My um still wound up pregnant outside of marriage because she did what she WANTED to do and took a chance.  The chance failed.  Does that make it my failure or does it make my stance that kids should practice birth control until they are married wrong?

As for those on the right poking fun at Chelsea...yes, it was wrong.  I've stated that previously.  But as so many on the left are fond of pointing out when it comes to one of theirs having done something wrong...let's look at the degree of insult.
A tasteless joke about someone's looks vs. a tasteless joke about rape...anyone see the difference?

I am quite comfortable in my maturity. I enjoy laughing at, and making fun of people like Sarah Palin. It is a joy and well within my legal rights. No, self imposed, pedestal hopping, uptight, holier than thou, is going to take that legal, joyful, right. It is right up there with splashing in puddles and throwing snowballs.

So...........THBBBBBBBBTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know it really isnt a matter of hatred when it comes to Bush and Palin - its pure ridicule of people so bereft of any worth for office that they are figures of fun.

Mind you when it comes to the puppeteers that operated Bush, and the puppeteers that operated the McCain campaign, one can easily hate them and rightfully so - their actions and attitudes require of any right thinking person the strongest antipathy and since those arise from their very beings, the antipathy can rightfully be directed against them as the evildoers they are.

Meanwhile McCain attracts neither ridicule nor hate now that the puppeteers that afflicted him during his campaign have vanished. Rather he attracts disagreement and respect. Guys like him, unadulterated by the various bad influences found in his party these days, are the final hope for the GOP.

So all in all its really not a partisan thing; its a human thing.

I've been thinking  about this very thing quite a bit over the last couple of days  since Treasure and I had our disagreement, and I've come to pretty much the same conclusion. What i think is more signifcant, though, is that Bush and Palin are both extremely divisive, polarizing politicians. Personal attacks against those with whom they disagree are their stock in trade, and since that's the sword by which they choose to live, that's the sort of response they inspire in people who dislike them. They are both bullies and idiots, and I think this is a normal way to react to people like that.

Coming a bit late to the party?

A) She's not a kid, she's 19. B) When the little unwed abstinence cheerleader started dragging her BABY around the talk show circuit, she became fair game.

Isn't rob blagojevich a fool? Being elected to the office of senator, governor, or even president is not mutually exclusive with being a fool, pompous ass, or stupid. Last I checked, all that was necessary was a well-funded and organized campaign, and some demagoguery.

Blojobovich is also a criminal, can you say that about Palin?

That isn't how it's coming across.  As I said in my original post, the majority of comments here are reminiscent of the petty sniping done by the likes of high school girls who want to make themselves feel better by putting down someone else.  If that is how you wish to be perceived, then more power to you.

You can, of course, depend up the defense of fellow snipers... but I would imagine they'd say anything to justify their own behavior.

Yup that pretty much sums it up.

Actually, a lot of the vendetta against Clinton was against his actions while in office.  As for his personal life...hmmmmmm,

No, actually all of the investigations against Clinton were for his personal business dealings and the affairs he had.

Do I really need to pull up links to document that for you?  I mean, it really wasn't that long ago for your memory to be failing you.

quote:

I would say that attacking Palin's daughter for doing what a lot of teenagers do, including those of parents who provide access to birth control, is attacking something occurring within the governor's private family life no matter what her public/private stance is on abstinence.

Well, that depends.

Were you making speeches all over the country promoting the pill or condoms as fail-safe methods?

Because that was what Sarah did, only she didn't take into account that the method is only fail-safe if the user abides by it.

And worse yet, she's now parading her daughter and the baby around the country still preaching the same method.

quote:

As for those on the right poking fun at Chelsea...yes, it was wrong.  I've stated that previously.  But as so many on the left are fond of pointing out when it comes to one of theirs having done something wrong...let's look at the degree of insult.

I don't recall Letterman saying anything about rape.  Can you refresh my memory?  Or are you just touting the conservative attack line championed by Palin in her never-ending quest for publicity?

And let's look back to that degree of insult.  You have daughters.  How do you think it would affect their self-image if a well-known senator attacked their looks in an appearance that was publicized nationally?
