One thing that hasn't come up is the issue that asking for -payment- for certain services is potentially illegal, and at least would be given -deep- scrutiny on a legal level... calling it "tribute" seems to take some of the heat off. I don't think, though, that this particular person thought about the -meaning- of 'tribute', and how it would or wouldn't apply in her situation. Tribute is typically something given to recognize an individual's station or hierarchical authority. VisualThesaurus offers "something given as an expression of esteem".

An alternative phrasing for her situation may be something along the lines of, perhaps, "remuneration".

One other question that I have is why one would pay her for -her- to obtain experience? Typically, the role of novice/apprentice is an unpaid position at best -- and these days, one often has to pay for the privilege of apprenticing in many trades. Why would I pay for someone who is an acknowledged rank amateur?

Aside from that, I have no issue with people getting paid for a hobby they're good at. I don't have an issue with professional tops or bottoms (and I seem to remember that several clubs in New Orleans pay pretty well for experienced folks on either side).

sounds like she's trying to take you for a ride.

I have no problem with the idea of professional subs (to be honest, I love the idea of professional subs), but I would expect them to be up front about what their motivations for such tributes are.

I'm guessing they're having trouble keeping the wolf from the door, they also get a lot of emails from people who want to play with her, and decided to combine the situation to their benefit. Otherwise it's just a way to avoid all the troll emails.

Anyone has a right to ask for tribute and those who wish to pay it, will.  Those who don't, won't.  It's pretty much a supply/demand thing.  Don't agree with it?  Then don't practice it. 

I found the comment about asking for tributes being pompous but from a sub "unacceptable" to be rather curious.  I'm curious as to why one form of tribute is acceptable and another is not.  We're all just people here, making a living.  Is it unacceptable for submissives (who don't belong to you, btw) to have jobs, too?  Or only certain types of jobs?

Good morning!
As long as there are Doms/Dommes out there giving her "tribute", she/he will keep asking for it. And I am not talking about like what my Daddy does... $5 for a burger on the way home or $10 to take all 3 of my UM's to the ice cream store. I'm talking big ticket items. I better shut my mouth, this post hits too close to home.

If you look into the history of the word, a tribute is regularly paid to somebody higher up the ladder. Rom wanted tributes from the inhabitants of their conquered countrys. I am sure some dominant woman used the term firstly because she either knew of that history or had a feeling of the usage of the word. So a tribute to a submissive, be she pro or not, is simply the wrong word. But thank you for letting the Miles Davis classic tune "So what" playing in my mind due to your choice of words.

I have a slave friend who is also a pro sub. Her Master is fine with it especially as I believe he shares the proceeds. What I could never work out was/is the house wives who want extra sex and go for one night stands instead of doing it properly and charging good dollars. Bloody waste of pussy giving it away for nothing... But then were it legal and I had the finances I'd be running a jolly top of the house BDSM whore house and raking in the sheckles..
