MzMia -> Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 8:07:33 AM)

I am among many, who has felt since last year that we ain't nowhere near the bottom as
far as the stock market.
I "made the call" and put my current little fund in fixed assets/bond funds last October, I can not gamble with the little bit I am managing to put aside.
{Thank GOD I had the sense to call in October}.
It is not being propped up that much right now, and it is dropping like a hot potato.

I really think before this is over, we will certainly see numbers around 7000.
I have even heard 6500 is not unrealistic, but I am sticking with my 7000 prediction.
[;)]
As someone "waiting" to open up a little mutual fund/and get in low, I am waiting to see how low can IT go?

What do you think about the current "correction"?
The stock market is correcting like a mutha fuck.
Peace

Checks and balances. I am not going to worry about it. Not near retiring. Often times I don't even look at the statements when they come in the mail. I am just going to keep on doing my thing.

MzMia -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 8:48:42 AM)

I can understand not looking, but I like to look!
I also have a fund in which I can make 3 changes a year, with no penalities.

I made the change in October, and have saved a lot of my precious little money.

I will get back into stocks, when I feel they are solidly going up again.

Also,as someone who wants to open a mutual fund, why not wait until it goes lower?
It is my money and I want to do the best I can for myself.

I pay someone else to deal with it. He has a long proven track record. Stressing myself out over numbers is not how I want to live my life.

Well your guy must be smarter than most, my uncle is a CPA and he has lost thousands.
Many have lost almost half their retirement.
I am not stressing at all, I changed over to bonds in October {see my OP}.
I am actually proud of myself!
I am just waiting to see how low it goes, before I open a new mutual fund.
I am not a day trader, I have zero reason to stress!

But, I am damn proud of the moves I have made!
Hey I  paid myself to handle my affairs!
My Uncle the CPA says he wishes he got out when I did, now that is sad.

LaTigresse -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 9:18:15 AM)

I haven't lost anything because I haven't sold anything.

MzMia -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 9:24:35 AM)

Maybe you don't understand what I was saying.
I have not sold anything, I have a fund that allows me to change where I want my money to be, 3 times a year with zero penalty.

When I decide to get back into stocks, maybe 50%, all I do is make a call.
There is no selling or buying involved, I am in a fund in which I can allocate what I want to
put my money into.

I have nothing to buy or sell, this money will stay in this particular investment until I decide to take withdrawals when I retire.
If I had not picked up the phone, I would have lost about 40% by now.

They take the money out of my paycheck every 2 weeks, that won't change until I retire.
If I want it in stocks it can be in stocks, if I want it in bonds, it can be in bonds, if I want it mixed/diversified I can do that.

I cannot take any money out of this investment until I retire, there is nothing to sell.

LaTigresse -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 10:33:57 AM)

My point was that regardless of what something is currently worth, I still own the same amount of it. aka.....no money lost.

The money would only be lost IF I wanted/needed to sell that which I own. Values rise and fall, it is inevitable.

PA, do we need to call 911?

pahunkboy -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 10:41:51 AM)

LAT- no.

Via the stock market- via the bond market- via the collapse- you cant lose something you never had.    Well- no longer had- 1971 when we left the gold standard.

You had nothing after that point- then thought you had made progress- as things seemed to go up in value.

They cant devalue the dollar.  Because it can not be redeemed for gold-- and therefor is worthless.  Backed now by US military.

Cash it in and go shopping for jewelery!   Please.

LaTigresse -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 10:58:04 AM)

PA........think about this really.

If I bought a brand new Shelby Mustang with all the whistles and bells in 1965 for $2,500.00. It would seem as though I spent an awful lot of money. And what if it was only worth $1,500.00 in 1967? Was it a bad investment? Then, what if I could have sold it last year for $20,000.00 and didn't, but could only sell it for $15,000.00 today. Was it a bad investment? Do I need to hurry and get rid of it?

Sorry but I am NOT buying into your "the sky is falling the sky is falling hysteria"! Values go up, they come down, they go up again, etc etc etc.... The world is not coming to an end and I seriously doubt I will need gold dust to buy gas for that Shelby in the future. (if I had one...)

Over the years and financial ups and downs, I've seen other people buying into the same hysteria as you, with the same sort of "experts" to back up their rabid claims. Sorry PA, but not buying into that Koolaide market.

*  Notices how many people here are drinking the fatal kool aid,  sorta like the Jones town massacre. *

YOU are a casualty of psy ops.   Yes- the car is real.  The jewelry is real.  Stocks and bonds and PAPER is not real.

You are an educated person, but ///
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!
forget it.

Before they were called recesions they were called depressions.
Before they were called depressions they were called panics.
They were called panics because people understood exactly what the problem was.

I see PA, so you have to be able to hold something in YOUR hand for it to have value?

Your electric company has no value to you, even though you send them your money, because you cannot hold/possess all of it? Or the company that manufactured your computer? Or the company that ships the groceries you purchase, to your grocery store......etc etc etc. They have zero value to you?

pahunkboy -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 11:13:09 AM)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tPobsgGuLk  anyhow Chapman   for every to look at but NOT LAT.

She is too educated for Bob Chapman.    /snip ,                   Mia - he is the source.   Bob Chapman- tune everything else out.

Every 80 years the wealth is wipes out so that the rare elite will have it all.   All thru out history.

LaTigresse -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 11:19:26 AM)

Oh yes, that Chapman character again. The all knowing, all seeing, teller of the future...........making money on your hysteria. Yeah, he's smart alright. Like a fox.

pahunkboy -> RE: Dow is dropping faster than a hot potato (6/22/2009 11:34:35 AM)

Hello- briefly as I have things to do.

http://theinternationalforecaster.com/

This is Bob Chapmans site.  If anyone here would like a copy of the PDF newsletter- I will gladly send you a copy.   Let me know a regular email- and some respond better to writing- others to audio, others to visual.

My advice to all - if smash to TV- tune out every one and everything.

From time to time- look at what Bob Chapman has to say- make your plans and follow your plan A.

The offer is open.  Let me know.  Have a pleasant day all!

Roger
