I was one of the silly people standing in line on Friday morning waiting to get the iPhone.  And I have to say, I was not disappointed.  It's pretty much the coolest thing on the planet.  I knew it could do a lot, but I am amazed at all it can do.  I thought I would throw a couple of my favorite "apps" out there and ask other iPhone fanatics to share your favorite apps as well.

Shazam (free) - If there is a song  playing on the radio, in the waiting room at your doctor's office, or anywhere, you can hold your iPhone up and it will "listen" to the song and tell you the name/artist/etc.  So far it has been accurate every time I have tried it, but admittedly I haven't tried it with anything obscure, mostly popular music on the radio.

Crazy Snowboard Lite (free, but you can upgrade to Crazy Snowboard for $0.99) - I'm not one for a lot of video games but I get a kick out of this one.  You hold the ipod like a steering wheel and you move from side to side to steer the snowboarder down the hill and over jumps.  It's pretty fun.

This isn't an app, but it's something cool that I did.  I made my own ringtone for when my sister calls.  I downloaded Billy Idol's "White Wedding".  In iTunes you can edit it to where you can choose the part of the song you want to use.  I used the first part that says, "Hey little sister what have you done, Hey little sister who's the only one, Hey little sister who's (fade out.)"  It's pretty cool.

So, if anyone out there is iPhone crazy like me, please write and tell us your favorite apps, or tips, and especially if you have found a way to use it for kinky purposes!!

i have one of the original iPhones.  TheEngineer upgraded, and gave me his old one.

i only upload the freebies...so i have a couple of free games that i like...mahjong and bubblewrap, the weatherbug app, and my favorite, white noise.  that one makes *just* enough noise set on the "beach" setting that i cant hear the neighbors whining at each other as they walk past the bedroom window...which is located less than 18 inches off the sidewalk.  (we're in a ground floor apartment)

now if i could find something to mask the herd of elephants that live in the apartment above us.....

Hi Notnew

We're about to replace mobile phones at work and the i-phone is the front runner with the new model. Apparently it does all the prior one did but one can also actually hear the ringtone yes?

i also have a medical book on surgury.....with pictures and diagrams ( 39.95) you never know when you'll need the correct procedure.

that's one of the BIGGEST bitches i have about mine.  i miss calls all the time cause i cant hear the bloody thing ringing.  if its on a hard surface i can hear it vibrate, but if its in a skirt pocket i cant even hear it.  ridiculous.

i hope the newer ones are louder too...

Yeah, you just can't use it as a phone, lol. A reviewer on a show I watch said he dropped 4 calls coming from his apartment to the studio.

Iphone is awesome.  When they first came out I didnt get what the big deal was and I guess i halfway wanted one just because it was the coolest phone out there. I got mine last summer and I love it.  After my um spilled water on the first one (took me a while to figure what happened) and had to get a new phone...I just couldnt see going back to any other phone. my favorite app is the maps (comes standard) because living in a new state...I surely need one. I rarely bring my computer to places anymore.

Shazam sucks in my opinion...tried it in different places...just didnt work. If you are interesting in different music apps, check out pandora and slacker.  Both free
