Here we go again.     Governor Mark Sanford put our state through hell over the stimulius package while he was having an affair with another woman.

So much for "Sanford in 2012." Now, if it had only been Tim Pawlenty or Mitt Romney with whom he'd been having the affair, we'd have gotten 2 for the price of 1.

Tragic for his family, but good god, how did he expect to get away with this? In this day and age, a governor can't just hop onto a plane and fly to another continent for a week without telling anyone where he's going. There were 100 ways he could have handled this, and about 98 of them would have been better for everyone involved. I can't help wondering how he goes on from here. I know if it were the governor of my state who walked away from his job for a week - just disappeared, and didn't even tell anyone where he was going - I'd want his ass out the door tomorrow. In the private sector, that's called "job abandonment," and it usually means automatic termination.

...but ..no one gets that far until and unless they can be broken.

this is some happy shit man!   dude claps his hands.

MarsBonfire -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/24/2009 6:03:57 PM)

Kind of makes you wonder huh? This woman he dropped everything for, just to get a few days of happy fucking down in B.A., must be one hellacious pheremone factory. Once again, one woman alters the course of history for an entire nation.

Oh well... at least he wasn't out on the Appilachian Trail, glory holing in the national park men's rooms.... That's Larry Craig's act!

Panda, I'd normally agree with you but I have the feeling that he's pulled this stunt before.  I know that if any other man disappeared without a word to his wife and kids, let alone coworkers, they'd be reported as a missing person.

Of course, the other times, he must have been smart enough to come up with some kind of cover story instead of simply dropping off the face of the earth.

I think he walked off the job that my state's tax payers pay for, and his poor wife.  I feel so sorry for her.
When I was going through my divorce in 2003, I called his office to gripe about equity laws in the state.  They called me back, and explained how concerned The Governor was over equity laws.
Now he will be very concerned!

Sure, but (if I understand your point) he's more than a husband and father - he's also the governor of a state. People tend to notice when a whole week goes by and nobody can remember noticing the governor anywhere.

Interestingly enough, the very same thing happened here in Minnesota a few years ago, when we had Jesse Ventura infesting the governor's mansion. He had the brilliant idea that he could sneak off to LA for a week or so and shoot a few scenes in a movie one of his friends was filming; pick up an extra paycheck and nobody'd be the wiser. I think it took about 2 or 3 days before the local media noticed that he was nowhere to be seen, and within 4 days after he disappeared, the whole thing had unraveled and he had to fess up. And fly back from LA, all pissy because he couldn't have things both ways, the way he always liked it.

As a former journalist, it's just incomprehensible to me that a governor could disappear for a week, without any reporters noticing. And once one reporter notices that the governor is missing, and nobody seems to know where he is, they're going to crawl across broken glass to be the first to break the story on whatever it is that's going on. Once one reporter notices, it's over, because he or she is going to bore in like a heatseeking missile. I just don't see how it's sustainable.

For me it is just an another sad example of idiocracy under which we are living: marriage as a prison for the mind, loving relationship labeled as a "sex addiction" by the "experts".

Crush -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/24/2009 10:32:38 PM)

So, how do we get 535 buffoons in D.C.to go to Buenos Aires to have an affair? And then resign?  There has GOT to be a way....

MissJanice2 -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/25/2009 2:10:36 AM)

I want to know who paid for the trip to BA, and who paid for all the legal representation during his recent law suits over this stimilus package while many teachers and employees were losing their jobs.  His excuse was it would cost the tax payers money.
I call for his resignation.    This type never resigns.  They just put their poor family through hell.

Best Wishes,

Mistress_Jan

I will give him credit and say he was a man and admitted it.

Mezrem -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/25/2009 4:36:23 AM)

His stance on the stimilus aside I agree with your call for him to step down. If he wont we should have the people in the state assembly look into what needs to be done to oust him from office. My problem is not his affair but the lies too us. As with Bill Clinton the affair is between he and his wife. If he performed some criminal action in the affair then bring him up on charges.

As for his wife knowing were he was. Jenny Sanford issued a statement today. In that statement she stated that she had no idea where he was. She had asked him to leave the family home and to not contact her.

All in all it's just a damn mess.

rulemylife -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/25/2009 5:32:21 AM)

What I find funniest is this is yet one more former Congressman who condemned Clinton at the time.

I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

Wandering SC gov will find tough trail at home

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina's governor once cited "moral legitimacy" when he was a congressman voting for President Bill Clinton's impeachment. He became a darling of fiscal conservatives over his ideological opposition to federal stimulus cash.

Now Mark Sanford has taken a swan dive from the moral high ground.

Well according to the article he started the affair after the whole Clinton sex thing happened. So maybe he realized during the Clinton mess that people didn't think it mattered if a poilitical figure fooled around. Maybe he decided that BC had the right idea and it was ok. So next opportunity that came up, he used his new found values to form a relationship with this other women.

You just never know.

That said, no I don't believe that for a second. I think he is just another asshat who can't seem to keep his dick in his pants and be faithful to anyone.

rulemylife -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/25/2009 6:14:23 AM)

Probably, but don't you see the hilarious irony here?

If he was just another asshat I wouldn't care, but he was an asshat who got up on his soapbox to preach and moralize to another asshat.

Lucylastic -> RE: SC Gov announces affair! (6/25/2009 6:50:36 AM)

I dont watch the "report shows" (colbert, hannity, beck, stewart or actually any of them), but I did read this morning that Jon Stewart said "Well just another politician with a conservative mind and a liberal penis."

Well it made me smile

LOL.  true.

But think  about it- they are not doing their job if the grid doesnt try to take them down.   They just did some digital to the kenedy assassination.    The driver shot him.

You know PA, I really hate to ask because I'm sure it's the latest conspiracy theory, but I'll ask anyway.  Have a link?

Seems that liberal hat fits a lot of conservative penises.....(or is it peni?)

And yes, I think it is hysterically funny when people tumble off their, self built, pedestals. Be they politician or televangelist.
