I know that theres several standard corset fittings : Tight, Tighter and Tighter still  being amongst them.

However ... can anyone point me in the direction of  a corset specific conversion chart for international sizing?

Otherwise I will have to try and find a Corset shop with a female assistant who looks about the right size and ... ... errr that's probably NOT the most diplomatic thing I'd ever have done! (could be fun though).

Corset sizes typically go by waist size...the conversion shouldn't be anything more difficult than centimeters to inches. However, the main problem is the person you're buying it for should probably have a say in the buying. Although my waist measurement is somewhere in the 30"s, one salesman recommended that I go down to a 26 in a corset because I'm squishy. If the girl is particularly busty, she may need to go up a size.

I'm not busty... far from it.. in fact, we're looking at underbust corsets (since they give a lift that a full corset would lessen...). My waist is roughly 32 (havent measured, I dont own a measuring tape that isnt meant for building stuff..LOL)hips are roughly the same.  Bust..SLIGHTLY larger (34? 36? not sure and the tags on my bra are worn out...)

Kia.. I'll try mine, but I dont trust it...it gets bends and kinks in it that (despite all my best efforts for not-perfectly horizontal or vertical planes) I am unable to get accurate readings.

damned thing is a POS.

thats what I get for buying it for $1.00

I was at IML and was recently fitted for a corset.  They recommended a 22 for me and there's NO WAY I'm that tiny.  AND I am somewhat busty...not huge but a 36 C or D.  I had a 24 on (the 22 wasn't in stock) and I want to tell you I was GORGEOUS!  LOL!

or..measure your waist with something flexable...such as a belt, then measure the belt on the metal tape measure

If you are buying a corset for the look with the plastic bone, then you buy the size you are - buying one like that for tight lacing is pointless because it will buckle.

If you want to buy one for tight lacing, make sure it has solid boning, otherwise you will be wasting your money.  Anything that costs less than around £70 will not be solid (unless in sales).   If you are purchasing for GT, then she already has a great shape but for people who have curves, it's a waste of money.  But if you are looking for uplift on the boobage area, again you need good boning.

That said - you need to get a size that is 2-6 inches smaller than your waist measure - depending on your size and bone structure.  Someone who is a size 4 or 6 (thats up to a size 8 in the UK) will not squish as much as a curvy UK 18 - so I wouldn't advise getting something more than 2-4 inches smaller.

I'm also sending you cmail!

in the absence of a dressmaker's measuring tape, use string/cord (or rope from your toycase!), measure whatever you're looking at, mark the end points on the string - then lay the string against the inflexible measuring tape or yardstick.

Don't worry about the boobage size GT.  It's the waist that is important.  I would suggest you get a 28 - that should fit a waist between 31-33/4.  I wouldn't recommend an underbust if you want to increase your boobage though.  I have always found that underbust type does not lift the breast and a full size corset doesn't necessarily restrict it - in fact it enhances my bust.
The other measurement that Jonnie would need is your trunk length (no elephant jokes!).  That is a really important factor people tend to forget about.

Measure the distance/length of your torso for where you expect the corset to fit when seated(if you intend sitting or bending in it).  Some are shaped at the bottom(in a kind of 'v'), some are not so watch out for that extra bit.  Plus there is the difference between under bust and over.  I tend to see a corset I like, see the length them measure myself depending where it is supposed to sit - if I am unable to physically try it on before ordering.  *smoochies*

Trunk is very important. I always have issues with off the racks, because I have such a long torso.

FR, after read thru

Here's some guides to measuring oneself for a corset:

http://www.absolutecorsets.com/customer-services/sizing.htm

(The following page has separate links to specific measurements for different types of corsets, with illustrations.)
http://www.waspcreations.com/mguide.htm

http://www.wickedcurves.biz/corset_guide.php#measure

You may need someone else to help you make these measurements, FYI . . . . . Happy measuring!!!!
