Awwwwww, my heart really goes out to Farrah. She fought a brave battle. Blessings to her.

I was happy when she brought the shag out. I use to wear my hair that way all the time, in variety of lengths.

I have sad tears that she lost this battle.

Elton John originally recorded this song for Marilyn Monroe but I think it is approrpriate for Farrah too.

"Goodbye Norma Jean"

Very sad, but the illness must have been such a toll on her.  I'm sure many of us remember her as that beautiful woman that we all wanted to be.  What a fond memory she gave so many of us.

I think it's a shame that the death of Michael Jackson has pushed Farrah aside.

Yup. Although (and I'm not cetain) I think Mother Theresa's funeral pulled in more VIPs. Hell, I think even the Iranians sent people.

I agree.  The news shows are all repeating over and over their bit on MJ and very little is being said about Farrah.  I would so love hearing more about her.  Kenny Roger's I guess, called into a show and they had him on and I think it was the last thing he was saying was that she was a wonderful person and that her death is being overshaddowed by MJ's death and no one is really doing much that they would have done if they hadn't died at the same time.

I was thinking that at first, then I thought, if I was a close friend or family member of Farrah's, I might be relieved. It means much of the media attention is diverted and they will be hassled less.

If I were to have to deal with that sort of media frenzy after losing someone I dearly loved, I would not be gracious. I think being over shadowed might be a blessing.

That is what they said on the program.  It was diverting attention and for that, the family might be glad.  But I think it would be nice to see some artfully done, life history stuff without the stalking of her family and the hunt.

I think many of us of a certain age relate to Farrah in some way.  I was offered a detective job for the agency that Charlie's Angel's was based on, but turned it down at a major time in my life and the two are very intertwined.  That hair... omg... yup, yup... The rest, I just wished to have!  But she did some cool things in life and it would be nice to visit those things as we say goodbye or reminis in our own ways.

I don't think any other poster outsold her "red bathing suit", tho I could be wrong.
The hair, the teeth, the compact body..............she is IT in the '70's!  So many flip styles trying to imitate her, but nothing came close. I grew up on "Charlie's Angels" and always had a girly crush on FF but just last year I read Tatum O'Neal's Biography and the chapters about FF & Ryan as parents were not very flattering.  Pity.

Yes as parents and in their relationship, there was always dysfunction.  I actually felt sorry for them.  It was hard to say or know how bad it was because I didn't hear real details unless you consider the enquirer detail worthy!  I think in the later years it seemed that Farrah was doing better and I think I ran into more that said Ryan was the major problem, but I don't know.  I like some of her later projects though.  I might like to read that book.

Hell there were parts of my life where I had some of those dysfunctions going on... lol, around the same time as that hair style! Yikes...

what a shame she and ryan never got to get married.  i think that just knowing he was willing to make that committment to her may have allowed her to let go so soon after he proposed.  you hear of people hanging on until some holiday or life event happens and then dying shortly after.  i saw a brief clip of ryan last night, the man looked like he'd aged ten years overnight, saying he didn't know what he was going to do without her.

I just saw her documentary on her illness, and she died with grace and dignity.   I am sure her suffering is over with now.  Best wishes to her family and friends during this tragic time of sorrow.

Respectfully,

I watched the documentary tonight too. For anyone interested you can view it for free on Hulu. It is very touching and moving for me, having lost 3 family members to cancer.
