Any decent non-leather handcuffs/ankle restraints out there? Better yet, a place dedicated to veggie fetish toys? I'm just dying to restrain my girlfriend.....

Lots of non leather stuff to choose from. There are some nice velcro and neoprene restraints on the market, or you could learn to make your own restraints and toys :D

I've been wondering how well rubber restraints such as: http://www.extremerestraints.com/bondage-gear_10/strict-leather-deluxe-locking-rubber-restraints_494.html    would hold up or there's always steel

Honestly, all our restraints are silk rope.

Umm... I really don't think silk qualifies as veggie (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), as it is an animal product.

Normally to produce silk the cocoons are unwrapped, killing the silkworms. However there is apparently something called vegetarian silk where they wait for the moths to emerge and harvest the empty cocoons.

I have a set of heavy rubber cuffs and a matching collar and o-gag.  Also, the nylon pet collars work well.
And, aaaaack, I am going to have to do some reserch on silk; I have been a veggie for over 20 years and have never heard of the silkworms being killed to get the silk.

I guess I'm dumber than I thought. I assumed it was at least somewhat better. I am sorry.

I was curious about how silk exactly is made. and yes, they kill the caterpillars and then take their silk coccoons to make raw silk.

I second CarrieO's suggestion of veganerotica.com.

Regarding rope, if you buy treated Japanese hemp rope, it has a silky feel.  Western hemp and package hemp are lame -- I mean itchy.  Maybe you're into the itch thing.  If not, they're not for you.  Also, Lee Harrington in "Shibari You Can Use" gives a method for treating hemp rope at home so it becomes soft and silky.  For the Do-It-Yourselfer vegan whackjob.

Try your local tack shop.  Horse hobbles make sturdy, strong restraints.  They are not leather, and if they can hold a horse they should hold your g/f.

Most people don't think of silk as an animal product, so no need to apologize.

As has been posted, the most common method used to harvest silk is to boil the cocoons, which does kill the pupa within. Vegan silk is out there, but is harder to find and not as durable, due to the breaks in the fiber made by the emerging moth.

That said, there's more than one way (about 1001, actually) to bind a g/f, and plenty of modern materials are vegan friendly

Hmm, alright. I guess I'm not the type to go beyond the obvious. I thought silk came from a plant thing...*blushes* Sometimes things miss me.

Even if they didn't kill the worms to get the silk, that's not vegan. Vegans won't have anything to do with anything that has ever had anything to do with anything from the animal kingdom. (Wow, 4 "anything" in one sentence!) So pearls, honey, silk, etc are all no-nos.

Sure, using silk is "vegetarian". But so is using leather, because you're not eating it.
