ORIGINAL: daddysliloneds i've never liked michael jackson nor would i EVER consider him to be the king of anything, save for racking up debt that the rest of us will be picking up the tab for in the long run I realize that many here on CollarMe do not "like" Michael Jackson or the Jackson 5's music! Notice I said "many" not all! If you did not like his music, how could you really care? This is the first star that I have ever felt this strongly about. Most of us that are mourning or celebrating his life, adored or loved Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5, and or some combination of the above. It's like that expression "If ya don't get it, ya don't get it!". Some people cried and were upset when {John Lennon, Princess Di, James Brown, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Ronald Regan, Jimmy Dean, Judy Garland, you insert celebrity name here} DIED. Understand this, for those that care: For many Michael Jackson fans, he means more to MANY of US than any of the people above. For MANY people Michael Jackson IS THEIR Elvis, Princess Di, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, etc. The coverage is not going to stop anytime soon, I expect a lot of coverage for at least the next 10 days-2 weeks, if ya don't like it, don't watch it. I don't really give a rat's ass if you liked his music or not! At the end of the day, YOUR opinion will not change MUSICAL HISTORY. HIS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON UNTIL THE END OF THIS WORLD! Michael Jackson's life COUNTED, and will always count, and that is what he wanted, and even stated. MILLIONS of people all over the world loved his music, and at the end of the day, and as far as musical history THAT is what counts. The KING of Pop, and personally I think that is a HELL of an achievement. I watched a lot of the Princess Di coverage, but I did not feel any of the strong emotions, that I am feeling about Michael. I am going to NYC to celebrate his life on Thursday, and I am just angry I might miss the moonwalking competition! Damn it, Life just ain't always fair! I would never expect someone that "doesn't feel" the love or the loss, to have the same feelings as those that DO, ever! This is a personal thing, either you are a fan or you are NOT a fan. There is nothing complicated about this fact, it really is just that simple! I am traveling to NYC to celebrate the life of a musician that has been part of my life for the last 40 years. I have never traveled to celebrate any musician's life before, and I doubt I will ever travel to celebrate another musician's life. So again, look for the cute middle aged lady attempting to do the robot and the moonwalk in front of the Apollo on Friday. The "cool" thing about it is, I am taking one of my favorite UM's with me, who adores him also! If YOU don't love his music and many of us do, and have not been one of the millions that have been rocking out to his tunes practically non-stop for the past 4 days, of course you won't get it! Now time to get my Sunday dose of some Michael Jackson music, I have not listened to any for a few hours! Peace Out! Mz Mia, and who do you think MJ stole the moonwalking thing from? JAMES BROWN that's who! JAMES BROWN was "moonwalking" 50 years ago when MJ was still shitting yellow! The day that James Brown died was a HUGE loss to music! He had more talent in his left little finger than MJ ever had! Forgive me God for mentioning James Brown and MJ in the same setance!
