What the article didn't state is how many girls do cheerleading compared to gymnastics. Ten times as many? One tenth as many? Total injuries isn't enough, you need to know the numbers of girls in each sport to come out with real percentages.

I never really thought of cheerleading as a sport, but they have competitions, and it most certainly is physically and mentally demanding, and requires a high degree of athleticism. And it is apparently more dangerous than othe rmainstream sports, so I guess it really is a sport. I will have to readjust my thinking (can't you hear the rusty old cogs grinding?)

Cheerleading is a brutal sport. I once saw a cheerleader leap high into the air and come down in a split, and she stuck to the floor so hard, they had to bring a forklift in to get her up........[8\|]

windchymes, you are SOOOO bad!!! giggling the worst thing i ever saw (from the sidelines, pep squad girl myself) was a raging twat of a girl fall from a 4-high pyramid as she was getting boosted up. she broke both forearms. yeah mean of me, i know, but dang. it couldnt have happened to a more fitting person, and she ended up learning humility from having to be helped to do every last thing you can think of. or as one of my friends put it later on in life... "TRUE friends will pull your string for you". now aint THAT a truth? kitten, who loved that friend dearly

Indeed. I know first hand of this danger. All I was doing was "adjusting" my ^clears throat- when all of a sudden my chair fell over and I was nearly harmed. Like I tilted my head to try to look under the hot azz skirt the chick was wearing- and my mofo chair fell over!!! Then other noticed my zipper was down. Anyhow- it was not easy to explain my sprained arm when they did the x-rays. Not only did I miss work over the mofo cheerleaders- but my chair was never the same!!!!!! ( Satire )
