Sure, life can wear you down, but everyone has a special way to revitalize themselves! What's yours? When you need a little pick-me-up, should you grab a friend, your gear, or your credit card?

An iced caramel latte.
A bath (or shower) with all of the indulgences - scented shower gel, scented lotion, body spray, etc.
Listening to my favorite music.

Normally I'm a health nut. Protien, low fat, whole wheat, Fish with olive oil, bla bla bla... However, I will sooner or later feel sick and weak. When I reach this state, Burger King, Chinese Buffett, and Pizza will renew me and I"m good to go as a Health Nut for another 2 to 3 months. Other than junk food, a hair cut will renew me as well.

If it's a break up that has me down, then a hair cut, junk meal, and a new pair of shoes along with a possible outfit will take care of things. After that, in the past I would then go to a party, wake up with one night whoever, and just start over feeling new.

Good topic :)

My spirituality renews me, remembering that EVERYTHING is sacred.

Music. Sometimes music and I have a 'complex' relationship ... a love/hate relationship. But I can ALWAYS count on it. Whether it is a happy song I need to pick me up, or if I need to play the blues away.

Frineds. Often they can really pick me up. Sometimes I am not good company when in a foul mood, but my really CLOSE friends will know when they need tobe patient with me.

Talking with Himself always seems to do the trick for me.

Chocolate...if it's been a tough week and I am starting to drag mentally and physically.

Self Indulgence...if it's a pitfall in life. Spending time doing things for myself rather than others. Writing helps me. Or I will start some kind of wood project...problem lies there when I start feeling better way before the project is complete...and i never go back.

I actually enjoy the time when a pick me up is in order. For so many years, i had not the time to realize them...i simply sucked it up and carried on.

Oh I'm so itching to play and can't wait for the warmer weather. Yes, this works for me.
Lately I also head to the gym...two hours of sweat, Ipods and eye candy does wonders.
Looking through all of my gardening catalogs and planning outdoor spring planting projects.
Drawing, painting.
Reading one of the twenty plus books on my bedside table
Taking my doggie for a walk in the woods
A nice glass of red wine
A nice massage and pedicure at a day spa.
Oh and the all important shoe shopping.

...i simply sucked it up and carried on.

oh ain't that the truth?
been doing it so long i have more than a year of personal illness time saved up at work!
worked 2 jobs for awhile, never missing time at either one, and still taking care of hearth and home.
yet i never considered myself a work-a-holic until the doctor pointed it out.

and in December when my world disintegrated, I still thought I'd be going back to work in a couple days.
Thank heaven's for doctors who said "No way" and refused to sign a release to return to work.
it's been almost 3 months, and i think i might be ready soon.

so yeah, you can go on sucking it up for a long time,
but eventually everyone needs a mental health day.

aside from the meds i take to keep all the chemicals in balance in my brain
the only thing that helps me
is being with Master.
Just His presence alone is enough to calm me down and pick me up.
And His touch, His strong hug, His love, are what give me the strength
to face another day.

I head for an isolated place in the mountains if there is a thunder storm of a good wind to meditate and spirit journey. Other than that an open ocean beach at midnight of the full moon will recharge the batteries.

Reading, mah jong, a cup of tea, coffee with friends, a lavender bubble bath, and right now the fact that I get to play poker tonight. Woot. Imagine the chagrin of a bunch of grown men when they're taken out by a pregnant woman. Hehehe.

When I get overwhelmed I do a few things to recharge and ground myself again. One is I grab the fishing pole and head to the stream or pond or lake. My God and I have had some very deep chats while I was fishing alone. The solitude and the fact that I am outdoors is what does it for me. If I catch fish, I usually release them anyway, so they are just a bonus.

Second thing I do if I can't go fishing is I listen to Gregorian Chant. Chant is such a simple music form and quite melodic. Chant tends to bring me back to where I need to be so I can function again. It doesn't bother me what they are saying, that is not why I listen. It is peaceful.

The third thing also has to do with sound. I have many different environmental sounds on my PC. The Ocean, Thunderstorms, Swamp noises... things like that. Very relaxing if I just lay on my bed with no lights on and imagine myself seeing what I am hearing. It is so soothing.

Just spending time together, quietly. Or a nice, long intense session, with lots of cuddling afterwards,
