I dunno - the best stand up in this country doing the rounds at the moment is an American. There is some shit that comes out of the American film industry but now and again there are some superb films. And then there's the sitcom 'Arrested Development' which had some great characters in it - very funny.

To be fair I think it's the way society is going at the moment - too much reality television and all of that - it's the same over here. The best thing about British television is that we do documentaries well but much of our drama is rubbish which is why we seem to be flooded with American imports (which are never documentaries - are rarely sitcoms - but are a lot of American shows in the manner of CSI/House/24 - some of which isn't bad).

well, while I do agree that most of the programmes are crap over here, I slightly disagree with your "best thing" as the best point for me is just to press the damn button and switch it off.
