stinger5303 -> Ads on Collarme (6/29/2009 11:26:16 AM)

This is just something I've noticed on Collarme.com as far as ads that are placed are concerned. Please don't take this the wrong way. I've noticed quite a few dominant females that post a picture, list themselves as "dominant" and don't explain who or what they're looking for. If you're
looking for a response to your ad, give us subs some details as to what you're into, what age range you want, etc. Again I admire domme females
and enjoy serving them and their superiority, but some details would help.
Also those that don't at least list an area of the state you're from doesn't help much either. We're not looking for your street or home address, just a
basic idea of where your located so we know how far away you may be, and whether or not the possibility of a get together is possible. The county
you're from would be sufficient. I know people need to be safe and I fully understand that, but narrowing it down a bit would be helpful. Thanks.

Well, this is a very calm, polite, and sincere rant post.  Thank you for at least being mature about it.  I will say that your words are misplaced here, however, as most on the boards do have a more or less full profile.  This would be a lovely journal entry though.  I don't think it is an issue just with female dominants either.  I have seen it in every walk of individual on this site, since I have need to look at most groups given my orientations.

I wish you luck with finding a good partner.  It is possible here, but it will take time.  Just remember, that empty profile is a pretty significant first impression that should be heeded.  They could not be bothered to spend the time or energy to even tell you where they live or a bit about themselves.  I can't imagine any relationship they manage to generate will be any better.  I am sure this is an overgeneralization, but I think for the most part it is quite accurate.  Not everyone is really ready to step from fantasies and musings into reality.

Oh, and welcome to the boards!

Are you talking about ads or profiles?  Ads are found in the Professional Services forum.  Profiles are much more personal.  If someone has no information in their profile, it is a good bet that they are not interested in having anyone contact them.  She could already be in a relationship and is not looking for another.  She may be just curious and so is here to do some research.  She may be a he and using a picture found somewhere else.  Best to just pass over those profiles and concentrate on the profiles that say she IS looking.

I'm a submissive and had a picture in my profile at one time.  Someone looking at it every day caused me to delete it.  Even when I had a profile posted I was not looking.  So having a profile with a picture does not mean available.

Welcome to the boards.
Your'joined' date says you'v been here awhile but I glean via your comments that you've not had a tremendous opportunity to view profiles.  There's a mileage apprximation when I pull up profiles.  I agree that I'd generally like more information than less but each unto their own and certainly, you can send a respectful c-mail to a person if you have a question.
And, regardless of sex or side of the kneel, there are some really good profiles and there are some really crummy ones.  It's a free ite and again, each unto their own.
Best wishes,
  Davan

Hmmmmmm.....

Interesting post.

I've long been a proponent of identifying on the site, in some fashion, Professional Dommes...possibly with a button of some sort.

Not to give them (as I'm certain I'll hear) a scarlet letter, rather, to allow both those subs who truly want to find a relationship, as well as those others who would prefer cash (and therefore....none of the above).....to align themselves with their desires....as well as create a cleaner atmosphere in which to find each other.

And...in their (the owners) quest to find a way to support the site, they could (as a suggestion) charge those who either directly seek paying customers...or allude to same in any kind of allegorical statement or story....5 or 10 bucks a month (or be removed....that should easily appease all the posters who complain about this being a quasi Pro site).

I would imagine, having heard from others that, if you're a woman, you get 900 kabillion emails a day, ergo, (psssst.....owners?....bandwidth), this may minimize some of the bandwidth caused by men simply seeking anyone with tits in their 200 mile radius.

For those that sell their wares...I would think you'd want this...it clearly spells out your intent, you equally would deal with fewer emails...and you'd know (due to CM putting you in a searchable category) that you were more likely to get respondents from an area you were specifically seeking in, and with a marketable desire for you services.

(Just a thought).

What Davan said. When you view a profile, right underneath the listed state they are from should be a distance. This should be an approximate distance between the zip code they put in, and the one you did, when you registered your accounts. If there is no distance listed, presumeably you are looking at an overseas profile. Either that, or maybe they just didn't list a zip code because they don't want you to know the distance.

There are a lot of us here like me- just here to talk. This is a BDSM community. It is not (just) a dating site. Many of us here are already partnered, or not looking for a partner (for whatever reason).

Wake up and smell the coffee.

The mileages Collarme gives are often worthless.  My personal profile and our couple profile are listed by Collarme as being 383 miles apart.  They both have the same city and state listed.  My neighbor, same address is also listed at 383 miles away.

The people who live in the town where we attend munch are 413 miles away according to Collarme.  Actually munch is a comfortable 120 miles away.

Actually, their mileage approximation is even more accurate than people realize. While people may live in the same city and state, the mileage statistical software also takes into account where people are in their thought processes. Such as, if you are physically living in New York, and you feel that you left your heart in San Francisco, the software takes that into account, adding the distance. I was reading a science fiction novel the other night, and my mileage was 192 parsecs away from a woman who was viewing my profile. Meanwhile, another woman who was obviously way into me was listed as "so close, she's probably hanging out in your living room right now" and SHE WAS.

(steps away from the keyboard)...Okay, I have no idea how the system works. I just press the button and hope I'm close.....
