The move "The Hollow Man" is a different kettle of fish.

The Wicker Man film follows the book virtually word for word which is refreshing.

In some Pagan Communites way back in the Good Old Days pre Christianity, there were sacrifices of animals made by enclosig them in a man like figure made from wood and then set on fire. This was done if crops failed. At times human prisioners were also encased within the wicker man also and burned. If the crop failure happened the next year the king ir ruler was to be burned in the wicker man as the representitive of the god. Such sacrifices occured at Beltain (May Day ~ also known to have young ladied leaping over a bale fire in the hopes of findiung a mate and falling pregnant. <<<Shuts up and refuses to even think about what happened in the 60 strong original coven in Western Australia at one Beltain and leapig over the bale fire with several ladies in succession....>>>>)

Yes, but how do I explain the movie and its plot. I know what is happening, however I have lent MY version out. I want to know how to explain it to someone else. As a movie, not as a phenomena.

Best,

LaMalinche

Explain the wickerman to someone who has not seen it?

I am sure I would want to speak to such a person!

lol, okay, it is about an detective sent to a remote scottish Island to investigate the disappearance of a young girl, while there, he notices that the locals all seem to engage in ancient Pagan ritual in a none-too-hidden way that include strange activites and open sexuality.

Don't read this next bit if you intend to see the movie ...

Eventually, it is discovered that the girl isn't missing at all, and it has been a plot to lure the detctive to the Island so he may be sacrificed on Beltaine.
