Actually, I have written a couple of one liners that panned out well.  Probably one of the cheeziest (your Mistress has wonderful taste in subs) ended up spawning a pretty good friendship.  Some things are funny like that.

haha   LadyP, that was pretty cheezy, but it's also very complimentary.  I can't imagine that getting a bad response.

Oh, I couldn't deny the cheese.  Also can't deny that it turned out to be very true.

Didnt you send that to my Fox, LP, or a line similiar when I got him?

A lot of the one liners Fox and I get are about our photos. Fox has a standard response of "Thanks, which was your favorite?" Which acknowledges the compliment and then opens the door for a conversation. Sometimes he gets one, sometimes not.  For me, its usually more along the lines of "Thank you, new friends and contacts are always welcome. What would you like to talk about?"

Nope.  I sent that one to DarchChylde.  I do think that on quite a few occasions, I've sent one or both of you compliments on some of the fantastic pictures.  You do happen to have pretty good taste in subs.  That was true of Angel as well as Fox.  Both have always been friendly and courteous.

Have you considered that they aren't interested in talking and are just contacting you because you touched something that pleased them and they thought you might like to know your words just don't disappear?

Sometimes a "I like your profile picture" or "I really enjoying reading your thoughts in the forum" is just a compliment not an invitation for anything further.

There is that, TammyJo, but it'd be tempered in my mind by the suspicion that she might not want to be too forward because she feels it to be 'undommely', or because she doesn't want to make the relevant male's ego puff up too much, or (just possibly) because she'd believe it to be plain 'unfeminine'.  Whatever, even women who are very keen can be very reserved in initial contacts.

If a person sends me a on-liner and I check their profile and they do not seem of interest (Or I don't recognize them from the boards), I thank them and wish them a good day.  Otherwise, I may interject a bit more, for example, asking what about my profile made them wish to contact me or citing a point of interest from their profile.

there's one person i talked with recently, we spoke a few time, never more than one or two lines.  so i try to move forward a bit with tell me about yourself, the response i got was "actually i think everything you need to know about me is in my profile but if you want to know more then feel free to ask"  on the surface it seems a reasonable response but it defeats the purpose of the question, and the profile in question was just a list of vital stats and interests, no description or journal entries, no hint at all of what there personality might be or who they are

I consider it rude on his part when I did and he still wants to know why.
