After many more tries I improved by two seconds:

A lot depends on the order which the states come up. If you start out with ones in the middle of the country, it's really tough to place them exactly.


Yeah, it started me off with Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, West Virginia, Iowa, and Nevada. I was off by a hundred miles each time, but shit. There's no way to put them in the exact spot without some context. Fun, though, in spite of that.

And I still maintain that dropping Texas in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is not necessarily an error. It seemed like a pretty damned useful idea to me. Definitely worth a try!

Its only 50 pieces, isn't it? There ought to be people that can do it within sixty seconds, I suspect. So my 182 seconds isn't even close to that. Being a supergenius and being fast are two different things; I am rather slow.

This time I did 20 seconds better:

They are a bother, aren't they? Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, South Dakota, Idaho and Oklahoma definitely are their ilk.
 
I try to approximately position them in relation to border and coast line features. Sometimes it works, sometimes I am off just a couple of millimetres and either finish or start over again. Sometimes I have forgotten what the relation was and am off by one or two centimetres. My last number of tries were all failures and therefore I decided to call it a day.

One more rather good time, though not as fast as my previous 158 seconds:
 
100%, average error zero miles, in 167 seconds. Also some slower times and a lot of failiures.

78% I'll try again later. I expected to get an even lower score, so for me, that's a great score , because I'm really bad at geography, I mean reallllllllllly bad at it.

I've been driving all over for the last few years & I got 90% with a 50-something mile error.  Geography is definitely not my strong suit.  I hate it when I'm driving somewhere & completely forget a whole state.  I think I'm gonna be in Illinois soon & here comes Iowa. Bummer!!
