harddaddy, I'm not sure why you state that Obama is a whiner and crybaby.  I expect that this is simply your own perception, not backed up by any actual incidents.

I'm not sure why you think that Palin is a class act.  She's been blaming "the media" for her own missteps - I don;t consider that class at all.

I do feel that the McCain campaign did her a disservice by pushing her into the limelight before she was ready for it.  If she could have been prepared for a few years first, she might have been a viable politician.

the exact thing i said to Master earlier.... she simply wasnt ready, a few more years and she would have at least known when to say nothing.

Well done harddaddy.

Another thoughtful contribution to the conservative side of the issue.

You may think you're "in the light", but if you're on the left, you are on the opposite side of the 'light'. Liberalism is a dark world view, and one filled with negativity and bitterness. All somebody has to do is mention the word 'hope' and you libs come a running. That's because you live in a hopeless state most of the time.

As to people who say that there are 'extremes' on both sides, an honest look at the vile and hate-filled stuff coming from the left (and from the leaders, not the rank and file), proves otherwise. I'm not saying that there isn't the occasional right wing extreme, but they do not come from the leadership, but the fringes. The left wing IS the fringe. That's why liberals have to run as conservatives (or "moderates" if you will) to get elected - if they ran as liberals they would rarely, if ever, win.

Thank you again harddaddy, it's true,  liberalism is a dark worldview filled with negativity and bitterness.

And we have to take an honest look at the vile and hate-filled stuff coming from the left.

I can only offer my thanks for bringing your uplifting and optimistic sentiments to the thread.

If only we could all learn to emulate your compassion, empathy, and decency the world would be a far better place.

What did you expect from someone who obviously has the level of class Palin has displayed?

"And yet you apparently had no problem with Obama trotting out his kids at every opportunity, but god forbid anyone should make a joke about one of them."

Well, so far there hasn't been anything to joke about.  If/when one of the president's children does something embarassing - and not the cute type of embarassing - I'll be among the 1st to write the jokes.

I'm not a fan ANYONE of trotting-out the kids.  It's just seems like so much pandering, especially when it's a school night and the kids should be in bed.

Further, the Obama's are very fortunate that they have healthy children.  I have a very dear friend who has a Downs child.  It is a constant struggle to care for and manage him.  I will not for one minute accept that Mr. and Mrs. Palin had Trig's best interests in mind when they had him on stage, late at night, in front of all those screaming/cheering fans, bright lights, and camera flashes.  To me that's a form of child abuse.  There. I said it.

And at no point did I ever attempt to find humor in Trig's situation.  All I said was that he should have been at home with a sitter.  That is what the responsible parent of a special needs child would do.  How can anyone possibly argue otherwise?

And besides - I wrote like 2 pages.  Is that the only thing you could find wrong?  I must be getting better at this :D

General Question Time:
Who here is completely sick and tired of this thread and all the back-and-forth personal attacks/bickering?  Any chance we could let this - and Sarah - fade away into the sunset?  At least until she makes her big return to the national scene...

The last sentence said it.

I would have been thrilled to hear nothing more from her after the campaign.

She is the one who kept herself in the spotlight then had the gall to cite the media attention as a reason for her resignation.

Seems, according to the washington post - via my mobile web news - that Palin is facing new charges over reimbursements,

"accusing her of continuing to ask for reimbursement for travel expenses for staying in her own home in Wasilla while working in Ankorage, records show."

Kimberly Kindy

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/07/AR2009070702711.html?hpid=moreheadlines

apparently there has been no record made public of her requests for travel payments as was promised after she was fined from the previous charge over the same issue.

I would privide a link, but, when i tried at the washington post site, it says its down for maintenance upon doing a search on the writers name.......... gpt the link!

This makes charge number 19.

Not from around here, are ya'?

Sure sure, we all "say" innocent until proven guilty. But let's ask....oh I don't know. The Duke Lacrosse players. Or....how about MJ? Oh wait, can't ask him anymore. Let's see...who else can we ask? How about any cop who's ever had his name in the news for "alleged" wrongdoing and subsequently had his career destroyed only to be found 'not guilty' later.

Yeah.....we LOVE to say "innocent until proven guilty" but we damned sure don't practice it.

Then you should not be surprised. If dems are not allowed the benefit of the doubt, why should a ditzy chick on the republican side be any different?

ya know, Firm, if you want to see her as guilty, be my guest. i said she was charged... accused... i never stated the woman was guilty of anything other than the taxes she owned on 17000 dollars, per the article.

Hell, I dunno.

Maybe it was the fact that you quoted me, and the bottom right hand corner of your post it said "In Reply To"?
