Aneirin -> Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 5:34:30 AM)

Yeah, ok, so not such a biggy, but it is to me, for I have it in my mind to get my nipples pierced. I have the funds, I have found a highly recommended piercer, but what stops me from actually going ahead and doing it. I can't actually put my finger on what it is that is hindering me in my desire. What is it, the thought of the pain, or the fear of change. Pain, I can handle, I live with dental pain and back pain, so I think it's not so much that, but is it the fear of change,  The change from my past to the future  via a bit of metalwork. To note, I have not been pierced before, nor tattooed.

Anyone else who has gone through the piercing thing had these problems, does everyone else go through it, or is it just me ?

First time jitters perhaps. Since this you your first time to have any art or piercings done.

I had mine done and while it hurt briefly getting it done, it was tender for about a week.  Now mind you I'm a shortie so most cabinets hit right where the piercings were done.

When I went I got my nipples pierced and also my married couple friends. The husband actually loved having his and I believe he did the other one.  He healed very quickly.

There is a difference with male and female piercings.  with men they actually go through the aureole not the nipple itself.

If you do it get a small spray bottle and use sea salt and water.  I never had a problem with my healing.

If after it heals you feel its not for you, its easy enough to take it out.

Personally I totally enjoy mine. I prefer the rings to the bars.

Good luck if you decide to do it.

i think you have boob/nipple issues

Aneirin -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 6:31:29 AM)

Oh, I will do it, that is a definate, but just got to get my head around why I hinder so much.

You say males have the aureole pierced, yet I see males with what looks like the nipple pierced, is it the nipple is pierced, or does it just look like that due to their size.

Also my interest is in bar bell type jewellery, but those whom I have consulted say for a recent piercing, rings are put in, is this so, does it have to be, or can  barbells be fitted from the start ?

Someone I knew had one done as a gift, but he messed it up, the reason was, he was told he was cleaning it too much, he used surgical spirit for cleaning.

SavageFaerie -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 6:58:09 AM)

From what I saw when they were doing my male friend, she pierced just under the nipple so it does look like it in the nipple.  Now this was my piercer, so others may doing do different.

I had my nipples pierced a number of years ago. A few years after having them done I took the rings out for a short reprieve and the hoes closed so quickly that I couldn't get the rings back in.

Personally, I had the aureola pierced since my nipples were relatively small and I was interested in some "rough" play. I think that is probabloy why most men get the aureola done instead of the nipple. If you put a larege diameter ring in a small nipple there isn't much flesh left actually holding the ring.

I think bars can be put in right from the start, but the reason for using rings is to make cleaning, and thus healing, quicker. The rings you can "rotate" to a fresh, clean area each time you clean the piercing, where with the barbell you can only kind of push it back and forth in a relatively small area leaving it resting in almost the exact same place in which you started making it difficult to be sure the entire wound has been cleaned.

Healing time for me was realtively quick, though I tend to perspire quite a bit, and the sore nipples rubbing on wet cloth while working was a bit disconcerting for about 3 weeks.

i keep talking my self outa getting mine done. i want to but just keep chickening out....hopefully ill get the nerve to do it soon

SavageFaerie -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 2:58:13 PM)

LOL I did mine because a friend of mine was afraid of needles and the thought of a peircing terrifed her, but she really wanted them.  So being the good friend I am and the knowledge she had no clue how I can take pain with facial expressions I volunteered to go with her and get mine done first so she could see how I reacted.  LOL

Needless to say we about had to scrape her off the ceiling.  On the plus side she got her rings. :)

brandi1379 -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 3:33:08 PM)

lol yea my friend wants to get hers done so i think i might drag her with me for moral support lol and hopefully they wont have to get out the giant spatula to get me off the celing

beargonewild -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 6:33:02 PM)

~FR~

Had both my nipples pierced several years ago and the rings went in at the base of the the nipple, though that could be as mine were large enough to do so. For me, the pain was intense for the first second or two before easing to a throbbing pain which I could easily tolerate. Complete healing took 4-6 weeks as the tunnel through the nipple needs time to fully heal over with a tougher layer of skin. During the healing it's important to keep the area clean and it is quite easy to over clean and dry the skin out which isn't good! One thing a piercer will say is to move the ring or barbell back and forth so the healing skin doesn't start sticking to the jewelry. One of the benefits of pierced nipples is the increased sensitivity and mine got so sensitive that just the weight of a cotton t-shirt made them ache! Another nice side effect is the nips do become constantly erect and moreso in cool air.

This is an interesting post as I've been debating the issue of getting my nipples pierced as well. I was pretty gung ho about it and then did some searching here on CM amongst the old threads. OP, if you haven't done so yet you may like to as there is quite a bit of information on the subject.

I ended up being squicked out about the whole thing and have put it off for now. I'll be reading this thread though in the hopes that something here will help me get over my dread of doing it. I'm also not quite sure why I've gone from wanting to do it to being afraid of doing it although in my case I think the pain issue is a sticking point. There's still something else I can't quite put my finger on either...

SavageFaerie -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/4/2009 7:59:03 PM)

The actually piercing itself while painful is short lived.  There is the healing period but I found for us females keeping a bra on kept down pain by providing a barrier and keeping them stable and in one place.

If I had to complain about mine it would be that when at home I prefer to be braless and being as short as I am the rings are the exact height of cabinets.

It has made them more sensitive when before there was little sensitivity.

They have also made my nipples stand out more.... LOL like I needed anymore help since they are already like Pinocchio's nose. LOL

One other thing I have run across is as women  the piercing will go through some milk glands and its important to keep it crust free, nothing worse than it crusting up and it accidentally gets turned inside...not so pleasant.  But its easy enough to check and clean off, that thats no big deal really.  I have had mine for about 2 years and my left side still will crust due to it going through a milk duct, those just don't seem to close over as well. A small spray bottle with sea salt and water are your best friend, it cleans the rings or bars easily lifting any crust and salt also help toughen up the inside.

Plus don't be tempted to play with it and pull it while its healing, it just extends the healing time. It causes irritation on the inside increasing the process of healing.

Just my thoughts based on my experience.

btw if you should have to take them out for any reason on a temp basis.....heavy fishing line does a wonderful job of keeping them from locking up

Ok, the positive thought is in my mind again, if the place were open today, I would go for it today, but being sunday, it is not, so perhaps tuesday, for I will be in that area then. Rings or barbells, the piercer I know of is well respected, I will take his advice on what is best. But just so I know the possible cost of the jewellery, what should I look for pure stainless steel ?

Myself as a jeweller/silversmith, in time I will make my own, as I do know the apparent sterilising properties of high grade silver might well be of benefit in piercings. I also have an ultrasonic cleaner, it is just a pity I can't fit in it.

My first Master wanted me to get my nipples pierced, piercing is something that im not really into and my nipples are super sensitive to pain... so i tried as hard as i could to get out of it.... not sure why really.... i am heavily tattooed, pierced my ear myself, not adverse to a little pain here and there.... but i avoided it at all costs...  then the relationship ended..... so i went and got them done as a reminder of that relationship... yes it did bloody hurt... and now people think oooooooooooh she mush love nipple torture and home in on them when i damn well dont..... but apart from that i love them now... not just because they have the meaning to me which they do... but because now they are a psrt of me...

Areirin as mentioned before rings are easier to start with during the healing process as you can roll it to clean it and not pull back possible bacteria on the inside, you can always change to what you like later. You clean one side of the ring then roll in that direction,  that way it clean when moving to the inside, then clean the remaining.

Here the ring is part of the price of the piercing and I believe it was surgical steel that was used but Im not positive.

Temperence

LOL I agree they do tend to be a magnet that says grab me.
Almost like a late term pregnancy when everyone wants to touch the tummy.

lally2 -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/5/2009 6:32:21 AM)

what put me off in the end was the piercer telling me that it can sometimes take a year for everything to fully settle down.  if you have a cold or get run down youre nipples piercings can play up badly.

also, i have my ears pierced and ive recently developed an irritating reaction to ear rings, so i figured the same would happen with the nipples.

lizi -> RE: Nipple Piercing ? (7/5/2009 9:46:14 AM)

I'm going to chime in here with Lally and say it was the long healing time that probably put me off the most. I wouldn't like having them out of commission for that long. Others have also noted that sensitivity increases - I already have sensitive nipples. I don't need any extra in that dept lol.
I still like the idea of doing it as I like how the piercings look but I'm not sure I'll get up the nerve...

Nipple piercing; had mine done this year. Master wanted me to. It was something i was drawn to,but have a fear of needles.( facing my fear was hard for me.) My adult daughter went with me, the first one hurt. Thought about chickening out on the second one but, before i could say no the second one was done.(yes both done on same day) They hurt for the first 24 hours but after that i was ok. Healing time was longer for me as i am a diabetic (its under control), not to mention i have rather large breasts, that i kept bumping into things with, causing some mild pain. But now that i'm healed i love it, Masters talking about nipple stretchers now. i suggest taking a friend with you when you have it done. [:)]
