Actually this does occur in Reality as a Form of Bastinado. Instead of a usual cane they just use a one that has been set on fire. Beyond that there were regular tortures that involved the feet such as binding a persons feet to a rack close to a fire and eventually the screams were abound. As for the Reality of things it is offten difficult to say what IS and what is NOT REAL. I've seen (in pictures and vids) both mild and extreme things along this line. When it got to the extreme stuff, it was very hard to tell whether it was real or not. I really hope not. But a couple of mild (and maybe more common than we think?) things included a dominant with a foot torture fetish who branded the bottom of his sub's foot with a tiny brand. I enjoy fire play a great deal, though I readily admit that the soles of the feet are not the body area that I consider My primary playground. I can see how, at certain angles, fire for the soles could absolutely be done. I think I would trust flash cotton or gel more than I would liquid. Especially considering other factors such as how high of an arch might the bottom have or how ticklish the person might be. One of the last things I think I'd want during a fire play scene would be a bottom kicking around open containers of flammable liquid while I'm holding a flame source in My hand. Kyst i was stupid enough to prop my feet up on a metal ice chest on a very hot day. The burns were very painful, had me hobbling around, but the worst of it was the threat of infection.
