The weather, the thing most Brits seem to like to talk about more than anything else. I like weather, the more varied the better, I like it when I am cosy in bed and the curtains are blowing wildly with the wind and the squalls of rain are splatting hard against the windows, love it. Storms I just love, thunder and lightning, just superb. The weather we have now, well, after a particularly good few weeks of so called heat wave, is again rain and wind with bright bits interspersed, fine with me, at least it is different. So, I like varied weather, storms especially, but are there any others out there that find weather whatever state to be enjoyable ?

What weather state is your favourite ?

The dog hates thunderstorms so them I spend down in the basement with the music turned up, keeping him calm.

However it has rained most of the last two months. I want sun and warmth.

Im with the wild storms.  If I hear thunder Im running out to see if its going to be a energy filling one.

I also love snow as long as I dont have to get out in it. LOL

For most of my life, I've preferred hot and sunny.  I still love hot sunny weather (although I prefer the low humidity of CA over the sopping wet heat of Florida).   Now, I find I'm missing having seasons.  Thunderstorms good, hurricanes bad.  or a sunshower on a hot summer day is nice too....

Altho I enjoy a nice cozy storm, I dont like lightning. Am old and comfort loving enough not to enjoy power failures.

But my favorite temperature range is mid 70's to low 80's. Anything above that anywhere else than Hawaii with the trade winds is darned uncomfortable.
I really miss the trade winds. Even in the hottest weather, we almost always had the trades to mitigate the heat. Most everywhere else when the wind blew, it was just hot air.

My absolute worst weather times are wet and cold. Dry cold, even snow I can handle. But just like Savage Faire, I just dont like having to go out in it.

I love storms, I often sit out on my porch and watch roll in. I have good memories of power outages, doing homework by candlelight with my sister, or sitting down with my family to talk and play boardgames. I like warmer weather, but without the humidity, which is pretty rare over hear.

A raging storm on a hot summer evening - the telltale breeze of its oncoming, the darkening skies and that first flash and drumroll pursued by the cooling downpour.

And as for the ninnies complaining about 32c last week; FFS, you spend over a grand for a week of that in Spain, and it turns out you dont like it........?

Storms are good but if in a storm don't stand under a tree to shelter from the rain. It is amazing how many people I hear about doing this on the news.

Everyone should know better by now.

For me if it has to be a storm I would rather it be a blizzard.. with fresh snow melting as it touches your face, muffled sounds, tingling in your extremities, that pure white blanket of snow, and that awareness that despite the power of Nature you are very much alive.

ewwwww..blizzards......not for me, TYVM!  I grew up living in upstate NY, between Lake Erie and Ontario......the two worst words in the world are "lake effect"!   What you call a blizzard, Stella, was an everyday snowfall for us...snow and tons of it at a time!  Trust me, there'd be no venturing out in a NY blizzard!

I ABSOLUELY LOVE a good thunderstorm.......watching them roll in over Lake Ontario was a favorite past time of mine.......one day, the lightning hit so close to the beach, I got a tingle and my hair stood up on end...decided that was a bit too close for comfort and went under the paviolion to watch the rest of it!

Lived on the Washington coast for over 20 years.  The wind storms are horrific.  Over the years lost 3 windshields, had numerous dents in various cars, a 200 foot tree fall in back yard, neighbors' sheds get flattened, and the worst of all.....a 25 section of the top of a fir tree spear into my neighbor's house at 6 am 5 feet from where she was having her morning coffee.  She was gone within 2 weeks whereas I owned my place and had to stay.

Now I'm a snowbird which ironically means no snow.  We winter in AZ, spend part of the spring and fall in WA, and summer in MT.  So, you can say my favorite weather is sunshine with a gentle breeze.  The wild stuff no longer has any appeal to me.

that's truly amazing, butch.  especially considering i'm afraid of the thunderstorming.

i have a true NEED to stand in the rain occasionally.  (emotional, not physical)  and right now living in an apartment, it just cant be done.  tomorrow, we go and take a look at a house...i told TheEngineer i wasnt getting excited about ANY house till he tells me a moving in date.  just not worth the emotional upheaval.

That photo is freaking amazing.  Very nice.

As for weather, I HATE the heat.  ugh.  I do love thunderstorms though.  Watching the dark clouds bring with them the twilight and howling winds.  The opening splatter of the first drops as they plop against the roof.  Then the roar of the sky as a wave of thunder washes over you.  I love it.

I'm extremely partial to snow too.  As far a I'm concerned nothing beats a good snow storm.  Taking a long walk through the woods watching the snow settle on the trees.  Then come home to find the power is out so you have to curl up with your pet under a blanket in front of the fire drinking hot chocolate.  All the while you get to watch the flurries dance in the wind outside.  Yeah that makes me extremely happy.

It was take at the intersection of US44 and I 270 outside of St. Louis... I was standing under power lines...1am in the morning...on a overlooking cliff...With a big metal tripod ......not many have called me smart...but sometimes you just need a recharge.

Thanks to all for the compliments on the photo.
