Yeah, well, we're "double-timing" right now, because profits and donations are down and they lost a crapload in their market investments, so they've basically a little more than doubled the number of NEW patients each doctor has to see a month to meet his quota... of course, that also means that he has half the time to spend with each patient. I think that I spend probably 3-4 times as long with each patient as their doctor is able to. I spend half my time with patients explaining the study I'm consenting for, and the other half answering questions their doctor didn't have time to answer. Prior to the economic woes, the average patient took 12-15 weeks to see a PA handling a general surgical oncology clinic to get an appointment... longer to see the doctor (who saw patients only after their initial testing was done), and even longer in certain specialities where we only had one or two doctors working in the specialty, like endocrine surgical oncology. *shrugs* DC
