Water.....in art...is a medium.....something one uses to create an image. Ever hear of paintings where Water is the Medium...WATERCOLORS.

Oil and water cannot be mixed, but the two, combined creates some fantastic designs, and when on stablizes the two, what is left is a design.

Soap in a tub of water does the same thing, creates all types of design.

My goodness ienigma, chill out.  It was something lovely to look at, some people appreciated getting the link, just because you seem to have a stick jammed up your butt about what is and isn't art (and what makes an artist) it doesn't mean everyone else has to agree with you.

Appreciating the beauty of something doesn't necessarily mean we didn't realise it existed before

Transient art, I love it. That art that is there for a moment in time and then gone, leaving the memories, which themselves fade in time.

smiles...yep I really like that aspect of it as well Aneirin.  There is a man who does chalk drawings at the train station I get off at for work and I admire his willingness to put so much energy and time into his art that is gone in a few days

I am chilled out, what is your probem with the stick....rudness abounds in you?...and NO, I don't expect everyone to agree with me, where do you get that? If you want to reply, at the least do so with some dignity, set aside your vulgar rudness.....offer something worthwhile, why not.

Artists have been turning water into works of art for centuries for christ's sake. What is the big deal here?

If you adopt that attitude, what good is anything. Sure, we could turn all the resources of this planet into objects, products even, then we would end up with clutter, things around, whether they be the day to day niff naff, or fine art. You just have to agree, being surrounded by static art day in day out, has just got to make you get bored, even annoyed with it. I don't know about you, but I create art and buy art, because it has something for me at the time, once that is absorbed, I move on. The art that attracts me has something in it for me, be that expensive fine art, or throw away art, it is an expression that once explored in all the ways I feel, and some fleeting, it passes from my attention, I have absorbed it.

Art, the ability to see it when it is, where it is and how it is is the real magic of art.

With comments such as the one below ienigma the intent (as I read it) is that anyone who appreciated that link is somehow overly excited by the mundane and ignorant about the origins of water in art.  Yes I get that this is not anything new however I see nothing wrong in seeing beauty in the everyday and the ordinary and even in the fleeting.

And for the record I apologise for the stick up your butt comment as it was uncalled for by me.  I sometimes feel frustrated when it seems as if a personal passion/value/opinion/whatever is being unceremoniously discarded by someone else and that is how I read your comments.  My comment about you was entirely without grace though.

I disagree, the fact that it once existed even if only for a moment is more than enough for me.  The only thing I can compare it to is seeing live music which for me is a passion.  I never record songs  (just my weird morals) though I do take photos and write notes if I am moved to  ( [:D] yep just call me a fan girl)  and at the end of the night all I have left are quickly fading memories but knowing that I was moved or excited by the music ..... I don't know, it is as if it feeds my soul in some way and keeps me going until the next moment of joy in whatever I find.

The water creations, the movement, the manipulations, if it gives you pleasure, you enjoy it, why not, it is a pleasure and soothing. So enjoy...but when the moment is gone, and you are left with nothing....for me, it's a great disapointment.

I have no problem with your pleasure in this water imagery, none whatsoever.

I love indian sand painting, and I've watch the guys creating it, then it is gone, my heart is heavy and sad, like someone dying, never again can it be created. Poof, gone, dead and lost to time forever.

So, you begin another one, WTF, kill one, make another, .....it devalues the creation when that is the way it is.

I adore sand castles, what creativity, and labour, what pleasure they bring, the awe of the sculptures, magnificent to regale one's eye upon....then gone, the wind, the sea reclaims the sand, I feel sad, at a natural leaving of the creation, I once saw some kids trample to hell, a beautiful sand sculpture, I felt as if I watched a murder.

For me, I want the creation to endure, to give joy and pleasure to viewers long after the creator is gone and forgotten.

I am a passionaria when it comes to art, the creation, I simply don't like to see the creation disappear...forever.

I watched the video, yes it was very good, but then gone, death ensued, forevermore. I didn't like it, for that reason.

So, that is just me, if you enjoyed it...good for you.
