Status: offline 		Dut to leaching lead fillings from over 30+ years, I have severe jaw degeneration--over the next many weeks, I will be facing hours of oral and dental surgery and reconstruction--most of it will not happen under much more than locals---I love to read and thought it would be a nice diversion to pick out a couple of long audio books---My favorite authors, like Margaret George, Michener and Ken Follett, I want to save to read, but I thought there might be some good books out there that made good audio books--I prefer historical fiction and those of many generations, any suggestions?

Status: offline 		I liked the first part of Harry Potter I heard on CD once, but I dunno if that'd classify as a good audio book, to any one else but me. oh yeah and maybe other hp fans.

Status: offline 		audible.com is a great sight and very reasonable.  I LOVE JD Robb's in death books from there.  Susan Erikson is a great reader!  Since there are 27 i think of them, audible has them all (thanks to my asking for them lol)  It was really cool, they didn't have them, i emailed them and told them i would sign up of they got them and two weeks later they had them.  They have all different genres and 1000s of books it seems and you can get two audio credits a month for 22 bucks.  Each JD Robb book is considered 1 credit and is like 10-14 hours long. 

You can also ask them if you don't see a book if they can get it.

Status: offline 		The librar is a good resource too. They're  a bit limited if they have books on tape at all but more and more libraries are branching out on what they offer.

Yes, thank you, I'm aware of that, in fact that's where I am going, just thought someone may have some suggestions as to good ones---the HP series may well be something of interest, not one for scifi etc but it would be a great way to mark My progress and to escape! It was a great suggestion.

Status: offline 		I loved the series, except for the very last one and one before that I was disapointed with those two.

I'd say go for it if they have them,  This is an awesome chance to branch out of your normal tastes and explore new tittles.

I'll second the HP series on tape/cd. Jim Dale reads them, and he's just absolutely fantastic.

Status: offline 		I don't usually do audiobooks but I absolutely love James Lee Burke's "Dave Robicheaux" novels on audio. Will Patton reads them with that Cajun accent and OMG do I love it, not to mention they're great stories to start with..........luci

Status: offline 		I don't know if this is on audio books Cat but I loved the trilogy by Paulina Simons which is about a Russian couple and spans a few generations and the war etc etc.  The first book in the series is The Bronze Horseman
