ORIGINAL: TheHeretic This grabbed my attention in another thread, and I thought perhaps it deserved a place to be explored. "liberalism is a dark worldview filled with negativity and bitterness." I agree with this. The notion that government must control the people, and protect them from themselves... I find that very dark and negative. What do you think of the highlighted statement above. True or False? I think the extremes of both sides have their own brand of darkness. (Hence why I'm a middle-ground walker.) The "right" says that liberals want what you described above, the "left" says that the "right" has been spying on and robbing citizens of their freedoms for the past 8 years. It's not just liberals that want the government to control the people. Every bible-beating 'mom' that wants a radio show banned because her youngin' "might hear it," every one who wants the FCC to fine and fine and ban another show for its content, every parent that demands the schools raise their young. It seems no 'side' is safe from wanting the government to either control them or 'protect' them. It all boils down to the fact that, with an increasing regularity, people don't want to take responsibility for their own actions anymore. This isn't a liberalism thing....it's a country-wide thing from what I've seen.
