On the lighter side of things ...politics wise.Representative Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a resolution in the House in Michael Jacksons honor to be considered by the Foreign Affairs Committee.
Presumably they will get to it at a later date.It is speculated that Jackson Lee's Resolution 600 might have a rocky road in front of it.
This should be a real "Thriller" as our elected officials debate this most momentous of issues.

I doubt that they would read this one either, before they had to vote on it.

Has anyone here ever heard Sheila Jackson Lee speak.? She is an idiot. It does make for a good laugh though. I usually just shake my head.

Yeah, CNN had video of her introducing it.  It was hilarious.

The speech she gave would give you the impression he cured cancer or created peace in the Mideast.

This celebrity culture has truly gotten out-of-hand.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 8:53:46 AM)

I don't even know who Sheila Jackson is. Some others had that whole thing on, and I happened to see a few moments here and there. Is she the black senator that talked at his funeral? If so, she is an idiot. I don't want to ever hear about Michael Jackson ever again. I just saw a story that the entire ordeal cost Los Angeles $1.4 million. I'd be a little pissed if I was a working taxpayer in L.A. I was pissed when the U.S. Navy was used to bury JFK Jr., who never did any public service in his life, and killed two young girls with his negligence. Celebrity worship is just sad, it's pathetic. We shouldn't have to pay for them in life or death.

Ditto.
Wishful thinking I am afraid.

ElectraGlide -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 9:13:40 AM)

Did anybody win any cash on Michael J. croaking. I wished I had him picked in my celebrity death pool at work. I have Liz Taylor picked, but the old hag keeps ticking. I think I will change to Jimmy Osmond as a long shot, if he bites the dust, it would be a nice stimulus package for my wallet.

slvemike4u -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 9:19:47 AM)

Well good luck guys with that not hearing of MJ again thing...somehow I think your both shit out of luck on that tune.
Anyone who could cast a vote for this woman who would waste public time on such a trivial subject.......truly deserves the representation she is currently providing.
She needs to bounced out of Washington yesterday!
Texas has been sending some shitty people to Washington of late, first they send us that former Governor and now this woman......perhaps we should encourage that whole Texas Independance Movement....maybe Todd Palin could help in this area.

In such cases Firm idiocy trumps party affiliation ,whichever party , hands down!!!!!!

servantforuse -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 10:05:26 AM)

We have our own Wisconsin idiot in Washington. Her name is Gwen Moore. At least she doesn't give dumb speeches. We think she is lost out there someplace. Her son was arrested for slashing tires on vans owned by republicans used to take elderly to the polls. A real classy family..

slvemike4u -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 10:48:01 AM)

Yet we keep sending these clowns to Washington while we bitch about what a cesspool it is.
Old Ben Franklin was right in a Democratic Republic the populace truly does receive the representation it deserves.

servantforuse -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 11:06:05 AM)

And on that we can both agree. Who was the Black congress woman who slapped the capital policeman when he asked for her Identification ? She lost her last re- election bid...

DemonKia -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 11:15:40 AM)

FR, after read thru

FYI:

Pelosi: House won't take up Michael Jackson resolution

As with so much in politics, this issue looks to be much heat & light, signifying little or nothing . ... . .

Isn't she the one that did the speech on the University of Florida's Gators National Championship????...

The objection expressed in this thread was to the introduction of the Resolution....and the waste of public time associated with this trivial matter.
I find it interesting that the decision not to adopt the Resolution has more to do with the fact that dissenting views would be aired....rather than the fact that there are more pressing public matters that need their attention.

servantforuse -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 1:56:20 PM)

Thanks. I could picture her, but couldn't think of her name. She was a dandy...

DemonKia -> RE: MJ and The Foreign Affairs Committee (7/9/2009 2:32:10 PM)

Mike, my comment was directed mostly at the politicians rather than your OP, just to be clear . .. . . Wasting time, energy, & resources on heat & light generating speechifying is clearly, to my eyes, a specialty of the political classes . . . . lol

Cool, though we here at the politics and religion section of CollarMe....have been known to waste mucho energy and resources for the sole purpose of impressing each other with our modest intellects.
Or at least I  have anyway.
