ORIGINAL: windchymes After having my back surgery 3 years ago, I woke up with a catheter in. My first thoughts were, "oh geez", but after finding out how excruciating it was going to be just to sit up, let alone get out of bed and walk to the bathroom, I have to say, I was really glad it was in there, and didn't want them to take it out the next morning! lol when i had one, i got up to walk around the room, forgetting to take the bag with me. I do not recommend this as a method of removal Owwwwwooooooo! lol I had a male nurse who was absolutely wonderful. On the morning I was to be discharged, he came in and said it was time to take out the catheter.....but if I preferred a female nurse, it was ok. I could detect a little bit of sheepishness in his voice, but it was fairly dim in the room, so I just let my knees drop and said, "Go for it!" He laughed and it was out in a snap......literally.
