BlackPhx -> Real ID Act Gearing Up, Coming to a State Near You (7/13/2009 9:29:36 AM)

While I am sure some would like to lay this at the feet of the current administration, the Real ID Act was enacted in 2005 and  it is now hitting all of our Government Agencies. Everyone must be in compliance if they want to receive benefits, open bank accounts, credit cards, fly, drive,  etc. by 2017 (last date).

One fun bit of news is those who have been married and divorced must have proof of every name change. While this rarely affects men, this can be a whole other kettle of fish for women , especially those who have escaped domestic violence. Why? Because the Government does not have the best record for keeping their records from being hacked, losing laptops with thousands of records on it or defending our privacy lately. Since these Real ID's will track across ALL States (Every DMV will be connected to the other), you can see the potential problem. I would love to see what they are going to do to protect Court Officers, Judges, Corrections people etc. Especially since you won't be able to use a P.O. Box number any more as an address.

There is bad legislation being considered.  While it would repeal some of the real ID- it adds more chilling features to the package.

When I volunteered at the homeless shelter- we would get a person who had no papers.   Maybe they were lost or in a fire.  They have a hard time replacing all that stuff.  Much of it- one needs a piece that you need but that piece is contingent on some other piece.  In short- it is easy to be locked out of your existence.

Then there is the incremental ism of this all.  I was getting a money order this week, one needs an ID for $500 and over.  They keep a log, pretty detailed.  Then I soon need some sinus tablets.  With that I will have to show an ID.   I was out on the bike last Spring and did not have an ID, well even tho I know my DL #, they refused to sell me them.  As they said the cash register has to scan the drivers license.

Then if you look at charge card billing- it now has codes. International is assessed 1-3% more.   All of these trends get us closer to where it is possible to turn off your chip.

A word to the wise.   The day is coming that debit/credit/checks will be down for a few days or so.  Possibly in September.  Therefor- you should have some $5s and $1s in currency  around the house.   This "bank holiday" tho- will not be the big one.  Later comes the big one where banks could be down 6-8 months with some simply not re-opening.   The FDIC does not have enough funds, and needs 500 billion as on today.   7 out of 10 banks are insolvent.
So- have some pocket cash in the house.

A word on safe deposit boxes.   These can be frozen as well.  Some items will not be allowed to be taken out of them.  Courtesy of the Patriot act 1,2, and the misc other laws.

Of course- you are free to do as you see fit.   It certainly would not hurt tho to keep this in mind as you figure your household  budget.

Don't some Christians view this as the first sign of the coming? Moving forward to the make of the beast?  I know it is I just read a book on it a few months back.  But, found no info during a quick search.

http://goldradio.fm/     <-- on precious metals.     Being that Goldman Sachs code was stolen,  and that they claim that this code can rig the markets;  things are messed up.

I note that on ebay the trend has been to ignore spot.    The US mint has once again suspended making gold eagle coins.

http://www.thefinancialtube.com/video/4345/dissolve-congress    <-- I threw this one together a few days back.

1% of Americans own gold.   HMMM.  What does this have to do with real ID?    Well the grid can change the rules left and right- change names- entities, become shell holding companies- short assets, and pull things that you and I could not.

So- YOU are required to be chipped- where as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, can play games with our money, wealth and our future.  This top 1% of the global elite hide behind corporations, but YOU and I must be IDed, Chipped, scanned, approved, controlled, monitored, taxed, regulated, as nausean.

Reality is what they want it to be.

Until people realize that the bail outs are paid for by their (peons)  retirement savings......

According to FL getting a simple ID requires all marriage records and all divorce records. I have been married 3 times, and have no clue to most the dates.  I cant use the divorce decress that was given to me after the second marriage....its not certified.

Now mind you the divorce decrees tell them nothing about a name change. I assumed the name after by changing it via ssi and dmv.  It wasnt a given back then.

Now my exception is that when I got my last and final forever divorce. ( I will live in sin forever) I did change my name to absolutly nothing related to previous marriages or my maiden name.

I see that as the one valid proof of a name change.  The rest just evolved.

Now SSI has a record of each and every name change via seeing the orginial marriage certificate. One document to get instead or 2 or 30 different documents.  The DMV has a record by showing original marriage certificate to whitch  that history could be obtained.  They have access to that information already.

Personally I have issue with showing divorce decrees especially involving children as it take away from their privacy.

20-30 years later who the hell has all those records,.....Personally I dont, I havve lost all my of stuff except clothes several times.

At this point Im ready to toss the idea of getting ID in fl since I have a 10 year one in NYC and gads I had to jump through hoops for that..

I shall morn the loss of privacy.

All this amounts, along with other rights being squashed by the govt, that makes me not be proud to be an american.

BlackPhx -> RE: Real ID Act Gearing Up, Coming to a State Near You (7/14/2009 4:34:53 AM)

The problem is, without ID for the state you reside in, you are barred from services in those states, and while hospitals  will not probably turn you from their doors, any program in place to help you pay for it, will.

Since government programs and any program that may be funded with grants from the government will be REQUIRED to check this now official ID before they can provide any services, including Banks, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Employers, Nursing Homes, Doctors offices, Health Insurers, Mortgage Brokers and potentially even landlords ( makes credit checks even easier) a large portion of the population will be disenfranchised. These include, the homeless ( No P.O. Boxes Allowed), the mentally ill (who tend to wander, if they are not home cared or hospital cared for), Elderly or those born prior to birth certificates or born at home, women who are hiding from abusive situations, runaways, etc. Not every one who changes their name does it for marriage, divorce or for criminal purposes. Not everyone who uses a P.O. Box address does it because there is no postal service to their rural road. The majority of Judges, Prosecutors, and Correction Officers in this country use a P.O. Box for their own safety and the safety of their families. Hopefully this will be addressed and this Act authorized by Bush struck down in challenge, but I seriously doubt it. Anyone know if the ACLU even has this on their plate?

For those who are concerned about their RFID cards ( speed pass cards for visa/mastercards) , e-passports, etc that want to keep the information private until you deliberately display it..check these sites for solutions. http://www.difrwear.com/ , http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/security/910f/?cpg=ab, http://roguewallet.com/RFIDShieldedWallet.html .

Yanno this is going to be a REAL mess for those who lose all in a Fire, Hurricane, Break In, Flood or any other disaster that means evacuate NOW. Lose your paperwork and you will spend an inordinate time trying to regather it. While they tell you to keep important documents in a waterproof folder and take it with you when evacuated, rarely is an evacuation shelter secure, or evacuation orderly. People panic and do forget things, when trying to get to safety. I know that when an apartment building I lived in burned to the ground, saving my kids, pets and neighbors was far more important to me than remembering to grab up all id's paperwork etc. TG this wasn't in place then.

All this seems very Orwellian and Huxleyian in nature.
Despite the justifications given for having such a system in place, know that as sure as you're reading this, there'll be many misuses of the system as well as new creative ways to limit our freedoms through the use of the RFID by the fascists in our government. You can bet on it!

Below is quote from a synopsis of Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" . We're growing closer and closer to much of what's described every day.

"The story is set in a London six hundred years in the future. People all around the world are part of a totalitarian state, free from war, hatred, poverty, disease, and pain. They enjoy leisure time, material wealth, and physical pleasures. However, in order to maintain such a smoothly running society, the ten people in charge of the world, the Controllers, eliminate most forms of freedom and twist around many traditionally held human values. Standardization and progress are valued above all else. These Controllers create human beings in factories, using technology to make ninety-six people from the same fertilized egg and to condition them for their future lives. Children are raised together and subjected to mind control through sleep teaching to further condition them. As adults, people are content to fulfill their destinies as part of five social classes, from the intelligent Alphas, who run the factories, to the mentally challenged Epsilons, who do the most menial jobs. All spend their free time indulging in harmless and mindless entertainment and sports activities. When the Savage, a man from the uncontrolled area of the world (an Indian reservation in New Mexico) comes to London, he questions the society and ultimately has to choose between conformity and death."

The bold in the above is mine and for emphasis.  Think about it...do you see some frightening similarities in where our society may be headed?
Benjamin Franklin said those who are willing to trade freedom for safety deserve neither freedom nor safety.
That's something you might want to think very deeply about.

Come on now, how in hell can they ordain such a law, its bad enough now. I do know that they have some real issues with the passport system. I am originally from Scotland. I came abroad in 1970, I was naturalized. I was only a teen. my mum had been here quiet some time. since forth the office of immigration  has decided that my entry was not valid, due to a couple of my documents was not signed back then. ( give me a break) and that they confiscated my passport. I am allowed to stay here in America. but damn be well if I leave, I was told not to try to reenter this country. and they they want me to go reapply for immigration. I have been in this country for 40 years now and even gave my service to the government... go figure.... a prisoner in a free country. if you think your free think again!!!!!!!

Yes they do. They've been actively working the legislative branches in each state since the Real ID act was passed. They have created Real Nightmare, a site they've been updating with regards to which states have outright rejected and banned the Real ID system from being implemented, those states that have denounced the plan, and those that have implemented it.

After doing a bit of Google research, it appears that 23 states have either banned or denounced the implementation of Real ID within their borders. While a Wiki article on Real ID makes the statement that all 50 states have either enacted or asked for an extension to enact the Real ID, it would appear that statement is up for interpretation. States like New Hampshire, which has denounced/banned Real ID, have sent official letters to the US government informing the US of their states' actions which have been interpreted by the US government to equal applications for an extension to implement Real ID. Talk about a failure to communicate.

It would appear that a new system is going to replace Real ID -- one which all of the states do apparently agree with -- and it's called PASS ID. Even Obama's head of the Department of Homeland Security has endorsed the new PASS ID system.

Given that Real ID is such a controversial issue between the Federal government and the states, I'm guessing that the PASS ID system will be the one that actually gets implemented.

edited for grammar

When my ex... a Canadian came up as an American on some gov. documents and he wasn't and I had to prove I couldn't be in two places at one time by a couple news paper articles and prove I wasn't the one using my name for fraud by being in another state at the time... I won't trust their ID. Oh shit, this is going to be a hassle!

It really is "Unreal" that we're going to have the answer  "do you have your papers??" in the USA.

All you have to do is go and get a legitimate passport. So what's the problem. I already have mine. Those that are in the Country that are not supposed to be here will have a problem with it. I do not.

pahunkboy -> RE: Real ID Act Gearing Up, Coming to a State Near You (7/21/2009 11:39:20 AM)

the 'PASS" act- would repeal some of real ID,then add it back in - only worse.

We don't want it.

Frankly I cant keep up with this blizzard of terrible laws they are passing.
