I wish that were the case. She is a low level offender, which is why she's in a minimum security joint. She won't get out until she's done half of her time which will be in January. If she was a killer, yeah she'd stand a chance of being released due to budget cuts or overcrowding. It's fucked up, but the world is a mad house.

You never know. I've got a niece who lives in Washington state. Her boyfriend was committing check fraud...stealing..putting them in her bank account. Since he dumped them in her's you know she was the ringleader. In any event..bad judgment and a guy who rolled on her put her in prison. She got 8 years. Last letter I got from her said...hey..I might be out by Christmas...THIS YEAR. She hasn't even been in there a year yet. They turned her down for the early release program when she went in.
Apparently Washington just doesn't have the money. Though they do need to keep her a bit longer than this year. Maybe she will learn something this time. Luckily the boyfriend has dumped her since she has been incarcerated.

California has been dumping criminals onto the streets lately as well. I assume it is going on all over.
